Love the new poster. I feel it matches the tone of the film and the main character much better than the original (albeit still awesome) artwork.
Hoping against hope this finds its way to an Indy theater prior to the Blu-Ray release. |

to the shop Drafthouse ship to France ?
I was also interested in ordering the blu-ray + the poster... by the way, I've downloaded the free excerpts from the soundtrack... will the complete soundtrack be available on CD or only vinyl ? (and perhaps iTunes) |

It lives up to the hype. I honestly heard of Ferrara due to Bad Lieutenant and the rather infamous Driller Killer and this was the second film of his that I saw (The first one was Driller Killer because I wanted to check out every video nasty). I came in expecting something along the lines of I Spit On Your Grave or House On The Edge Of The Park and I got a rather disturbing character study about rape.

Then there's negatively identifying a group of people who usually are 'labeled' for doing exactly what you just did. Say you don't like the poster? Fine. Doesn't bother me. Using a bargain basement argument that it's only for hipsters? Try harder. ![]() |

The problem with your "argument" is that I actually like the poster. I think it's rather beautiful. I just don't think it fits the movie - like at all.
The design has connotations of new wave cinema style or new american independent cinema. But the movie itself is one of the most hardcore ("nasty" if you will) rape-revenge exploitation movies of the 1980s. That means there's a complete mismatch between style and content. It sends a very muddled message. And that's the very point I made - like many other Drafthouse posters, it tries to market the movie as something it really isn't - it's a retro-designed poster for the art-house hipster crowd, i.e. the segment who are not really interested in anything old if it's not cool/ retro/ whatever. There's isn't an inch of honesty in that poster. |
