Also, Live Free or Die hard might be a sleeping giant for Blu, same with The Simpsons, which was surprisingly pleasant considering the lack of efforts in their recent seasons.

GO FOX, DIE PARAMOUNT

I thought Shrek 3 was a terrible movie as I did Transformers. Spider-Man 3 was terrific and a demo BD transfer-not selling that great???

i think ratatouille alone will beat out shrek 3. we still have POTC:AWE coming. and that movie will decimate ALL. between Cars, spiderman, ratatouille, POTC trilogy...its more than enough to be format sellers.

not to mention Disney is already breaking in Fall 2008 to the public, that shows commitment.

The catch for Shrek 3 is that it 'completes a set' for people who have the first two movies. Even if it wasn't the best of the three they may still want to hook up just to have them all.

I think Shrek 3 will sell very well, comparatively; however, I doubt highly it will even come close to Ratatouille on Blu-ray.

Ocean's set is dual release so it's a wash which means Blu-ray goes 2:1 normalcy on it hopefully.

I do wish we had more than CETK to combat it... Maybe another 'sale' will happen to help bolster numbers. Will be some good spidey and rat rollovers still then I hope.
don't bother to provide a link. it's obvious. one of my local cinema, had shrek for 3 weeks, and ratatouille for 6 weeks

If Shrek was on Blu' I still wouldn't buy it guys... it's just a bad series of films compared to what Disney/Pixar comes out with. Dreamworks animation always seems to try too hard to be funny and misses the mark when it comes to entertainment.

I personally think that Shrek is highly overrated. The jokes in Shrek 2 got old after awhile. With both Cars and Rataoullie selling out at some stores, not to mention the Ocean's Box(which although neutral, should sell well on Blu). I'm sure a lot of Spielberg fans(myself included) will be waiting to get our hands on CET3K. Alot of people thought Transformers was going to move a ton of units and it ended up being less than 90,000. This could be a close week, but I highly doubt it.

Shrek 2 only did so phenomenally well because it rode off the coattails of the first one, which I thought was really good. But the third one riding on the coattails of the 2nd one, which wasn't that great, well, it just fell right off, hopefully word of mouth will keep this from selling really well on HD-DVD.

I heard somewhere they were considering a 4th one... I guess anything for the money, but each one is going downhill from there.

I'm not sure how many blu fans would have purchased it. I wouldn't have. So taking into account a 2:1 sales ratio in favor of BDs, I could only hazzard a guess on the total amount of HD DVD sales. DVD sales of this title will be fairly substantial though.

See, I won;t play it biased and admit I just loved Transformers.

But Shrek 3 was awful, one of the worst movies of the summer imho, extrememly disapointing as I love Shrek 2.
Shrek 3 imho did pretty good in theatres thanks to its two predecessors.

It might still do ok on HD DVD, becasue .. well. How many animated movies do they get really ? But I don't see it being a huge it frankly.
