Drop the numbers now and give each one it's own title.
Like some movies are doing, for instance Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy.
Killzone also dropped the numbers for the latest installment.

Analyzing the Uncharted PS4 Trailer: Pirates, Pirate Colonies, Treasure, Henry Every and Libertatia

Uncharted for PS4 is real, but all we have to show for it is a tiny teaser trailer that gives brutally few details. To help work out what Naughty Dog has up their sleeves, PSLS took out a fine tooth comb and began looking through the trailer.


The map sets the location as the area around Madagascar and Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, with places like Réunion and Cape Agulhas shown. The area was known for piracy, which is interesting as piratey character models were spotted at Naughty Dog HQ.




What’s more, at one point the map shows “Every betrayed us all”. Henry Every was a seventeenth century pirate who was called “The Arch Pirate” and “The King of Pirates” by his contemporaries, staged the most profitable pirate raid in history, and was never caught – retiring to enjoy his wealth. He also betrayed a lot of his men, and his wealth wasn’t found (perhaps Nathan Drake will find it). Oh, and he did operate around Africa, as well as India and the Caribbean. It’s important to note that the time Every operated in was long after Sir Francis Drake, so that likely rules out older Drake.


At the end of the video, the screen focuses on an island next to Madagascar, circling it like on a treasure map. Île Sainte-Marie/Nosy Boraha is the small island in question, and just so happens to have been a pirate haven throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, and Henry Every is known to have sheltered there at île aux Forbans. The island was also thought to be the home of the possibly fictional Libertatia, an anarchist colony founded in the late 17th century by pirates under Captain James Misson. The pirates freed slaves and apparently used elected systems of re-callable delegates.
If it wasn’t obvious enough, the Libertatia motto was “for God and liberty,” which appears on the teaser trailer for Uncharted. Hodie Mecum Eris In Paradiso’ is ‘Today, you shall be with me in Paradise’ in Latin, one of the seven last words of Christ, and the Libertatians were thought to be very religious and want to build a paradise.

its probably some spirit or ghost/being that was let loose from his trap and he's seeking revenge on the person who locked him in there (francis drake) but since that drake is dead he's going to get revenge on his descendant Nathan

and maybe we'll get a flashback level or two where we're playing as sir francis

Don't get me wrong, I have loved Uncharted but I was hoping ND was working on a brand new IP. I'm just a little burned out on the Uncharted series. I get it. It's become an iconic brand and it will move systems. However like God of War I think this franchise needs to go into moratorium for a while.

Oh I know and I LOVED The Last of Us. But part of what I loved about PS3 was that Sony introduced SO MANY new IP's this generation. I really appreciated them for doing so! I just don't want this generation to be filled with "part 3's and 4's." I want as many new IP's this generation as last generation. I guess I'm just greedy!

The more I think about it the more I think this will be a traditional Uncharted game starring Drake. The back story will involve Every of course instead of Sir Frances and that's it. Just because they used a new voice probably doesn't mean it's the voice of the main character. They're simply clueing us in to the area and backstory we can expect.

And don't forget guys. ND has two full dev teams. Just because Uncharted is coming, who know how far off it is or if the other team isn't making up their own IP right now.

I'm pumped for more Uncharted. Not burned out on the series at all - Uncharted 3 feels like a long time ago now to me.

Tired of Uncharted. They need to focus on doing new things like The Last of Us. I'd throw out all the Uncharted games for another TLOU quality game.

The teaser sort of gave me a Freemason and piratey feel. Looking forward to more Uncharted Todd Stashwick is just playing another character, I'm sure Drake and Co. will be back.

I agree. The voiceover is definitely going to be the enemy of Nathan Drake.
