Anyone have any details on either release? I haven't been able to find much of anything other than release date information.

If you're from the US Amazon.com has there pre-order up. I just pre-ordered mine.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Thanks goodness Umbrella is reissuing Beastmaster, as there was no way to get this blu, unless you wanted to pay a ton of money.

I don't know for sure. I would assume though, as there is no mention of a new master, and it contains the same bonus material as the original disc.

I let Amazon know, hopefully they'll match it, as I'm prime. If not, I'll switch to the Deep Discount order.

Just a heads-up for those wanting to get this in the US, the reissue is apparently region-free. No other changes, just unlocked.

I just received mine on my lunch break from work and the case still shows Region B. I'm hoping that is not the case with the actual blu ray. I do have an all region player but I'd rather use my PS4, even thought I know some Umbrella titles have had issues with the PS4. I'll try to check it tonight.

Yeah it's standard practice for Umbrella to print B on the slick even though 99% of their titles are region-free. It's confirmed RF on both here and DVDCompare.

Dang, you guys are great at answering my questions before I ask them! My collection has quite a few Umbrella releases now for discs that are OOP or not in the US market, but I just wish they didn't use these weirdly fat cases. Stoked on getting Beastmaster, finally!

That size case is the standard in the UK, Australia and several other territories.

Watched my copy the other day. I noticed that the scene with Dar as a boy (played by Billy Jacoby) looks like it was shot through an anamorphic lens and was left un-squeezed, making the people in the image look tall and skinny. If I remember correctly, the first Anchor Bay DVD had this anomaly, but when they revisited the title for their Divimax series, it was corrected (well, save for that one final shot of Dar running through the field). I can't remember the story behind this, if it was intentional or not. (EDIT: It's mentioned in the commentary that that scene was the first thing shot and that Coscarelli and the DP decided to shoot scope for the movie but that the producers axed that decision when dailies came back in soft focus, forcing the rest of the movie to be shot flat.)

Either way, looks like this transfer may have used that first master (color timing is different than the Divimax one: http://www.caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go...=35249&i=0&l=0 )

I switched out the fat case for a 3 disc fat case so I could keep my old dvd (who knows what I'll do with the third spot, we'll see). I had a chance to watch about 45 minutes of the Umbrella disc last night, it was un-even in spots but some shots are pretty darn beautiful honestly. I'm guessing a lot had to do with the age and condition of the film though. But very happy with my purchase, just wish it had subs like my dvd that's all.

Has anybody been able to get the German disc? Just curious if it is any different...

Dang, reissue and yet no proper US release with a new transfer. Not sure what is taking so long.

So the re-release is region free, unlike the first pressing? I will update the thread title sometime today.

Yep the Umbrella's rerelease is completely region free. Now the question is there a way to tell the two releases apart for the used copies out there?
