Yes, for the most part. Only if the distributors are different will there be greater chance of different release dates, but major studios release movies to Canada and US on the same dates typically. Amazon.ca often puts up their listings before Amazon.com.

Altho this is inconsequential to the vast majority of Woody's fans, I for one am delighted that he chose to lense 'Blue Jasmine' in 'scope (2.35 AR); as opposed to his usual practice of shooting in 1.85, altho I can see why that has been his preferred medium for so long, as the narrower frame conveys a more intimate vibe. In any case, and for whatever artistic reason why he decided to go with the wider canvas this time, it appears that he has again chosen the Panavision format for his next film, 'Magic in the Moonlight' (source: IMDB). I've always loved the esthetic look of the wider lenses, as it closer resembles 'real life', where we view the world in 180 degrees, and also the reason why I took the CIH plunge years ago, and also why I had embraced the Laserdisc format way way back. Anyhoo, props to Woody

I'm sorry for causing so much work for the mods
![]() Blue Jasmine was an excellent film, although I'm not sure I am as enthusiastic about Cate Blanchett's performance. It was good, but not the best I've ever seen. |

I thought she was the only reason the movie got any attention. It's not a BAD movie besides her or anything but I can't imagine it having any effect at all without her twitchy insecurity and desperation through all the vicious dialogue. She was amazing and I hope she wins the oscar.

From what I have seen last year, the only performance that rivals Cate Blanchett's was Adèle Exarchopoulos in Blue is the Warmest Color. Not a false moment from her in the entire film. One of the few performances I have ever seen that was so raw and real that I did not think about her as anyone other than a real person on screen. I can't wait to see where her career goes in the future. Of course, the Academy didn't nominate Blue is the Warmest Color at all. A real shame that further illuminates that the Oscars are really all about Hollywood politics and not necessarily the actual art of filmmaking. To get back on topic, of those nominated, Cate Blanchett is clearly the most deserving candidate. I really hope this Woody Allen scandal doesn't cloud the judgment of the Academy members for the wrong reasons. |

That said Blanchett's acting is the only thing that held my attention in what is another overrated post-90s Woody Allen film. Last edited by Todd Tomorrow; 02-09-2014 at 04:55 PM. |
