i hope that Eureka keeps free shipping. I just checked amazon, and they won't even ship their new films to the US! and I can't find them on base.com - yet.

Either way, these new shipping charges, across all sites, are crazy. Deff was 6.99 now 16.99. It looks like 88 Films removed their free shipping reward too. I wouldn’t be surprised if Eureka stops the free shipping.

With Eureka they covered the international shipping cost by not deducting VAT although that only worked for them outside the EU.
They got 17% to cover cost 1-(1/1.2)

I think the issue is that to the US at least shipping now costs much more than this.

Indicator have also upped shipping to some countries recently.

Default Base.com no longer shipping outside EEA on 10/1, preorders cancelled

Quote:
Non-EEA Fulfilment

We have been experiencing an increasing number of legal challenges and other issues with our shipping of orders outside of the European Economic Area (EEA). Our suppliers transact with us on the basis that goods will only be sold within the EEA.

These issues have been compounded by: Covid-19 related delivery constraints and costs, an increasing number of lost parcels, local taxation changes, and customs delays. All this has led our Board to take the decision that, with immediate effect we will cease taking orders for countries outside of the EEA.

From the 1st October, we will cease to ship orders outside of the EEA. Any orders that are still outstanding will be cancelled.

We regret we have had to take this action and apologise for any inconvenience we have caused you.
This is a real loss for those of us who import.

Got the email so tried making orders before the Oct 1 cutoff, but looks like it's immediate. A warning was there to change my shipping address.

You can say that again. I used them a lot as an alternative to Amazon UK. Their low prices and shipping rates were great, although that's probably why they're calling it quits to shipping outside the EEA. I wonder if I can squeeze in one last order from them before 10/1.

Sigh. I finally bought an all region player and did extensive price comparisons for preorders and some catalog titles between about 6 shops that ship to the US and Base was the cheapest. I had just ordered 2 in stock titles and 4 preorders. I wonder if they’ll still send the in stock items before 10/1.

Oh no! Arg! I was planning to clear my wishlist this week and set aside some other financial obligations to do so. Their prices are often so untouchable.

Those Brexit benefits eh ?

This will affect us all in the UK too and may well see the demise of Base itself

Perhaps the pressure has come from the video game side of things, I can’t see many Blu-ray/DVD companies caring where their orders come from and who they go to.

Really, it’s a decision that’s dumb beyond belief. In a weaker global economy, online sales will become more prevalent and discretionary spending will be even harder to attract from people with uncertain job security. Abandoning an entire stream of income is not very bright. I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually went down the gurgler.

This totally blows. I really liked Base. I've ordered a lot of blu-rays from them. I can't think of any other UK retailers that ship to the U.S. now besides Amazon and Zavvi. I know HMV doesn't, and I don't think Zoom does either.

I wondered about this—in terms of how valuable non-EEA sales are to Base. In 2020 corporate lingo, we’re all in this together!

Ugh. The best place to order from the UK and the only way I could avoid Amazon consistently.

Not good. I was about to place an order but Base has already shut down shipments outside the EEA. Ugh, indeed...

Due to brexit incoming along with the rising cases of covid I would be weary with Amazon UK shipping internationally too in November. Anyway its out of their control...

Can't see how, maybe Brexit explains why so many US retailers won't ship outside the US?

Can the OP please be corrected to replace Europe with EEA as they are different areas, just like EU is not Europe.
A big chunk of Eastern European countries are not part of the EEA.

They have already not listed any forthcoming BFI titles from October onwards.

My only future pre-order titles are Signal One titles.
Have they actually been listing any new pre-orders for the last month or so. Nothing on my radar listed.

Exactly. Is more retailers don’t want the hassle of lost or delayed packages complaints from international customers.

Plus international mail costs have sky rocketed with fewer passenger planes where most mail outside the dedicated courier companies was shipped.
