Godzilla looks amazing. I love the director and the cast is great. You can't go wrong with Johnson, Olsen, and Cranston.
I was a huge fan of First Class so naturally seeing the cast return and mesh with the old cast for Days of Future Past should be a treat. I'm probably most excited for Nolan's Interstellar though. |

I agree that 2014 is looking very wimpy vs 2015. Studios all seemed to miss the boat this upcoming year.
Interstellar Edge of Tomorrow Godzilla X-men: Days of Future Past There and Back Again Jupiter Ascending Transcendence Child 44 Sabotage Dawn of the Planet of the Apes(the trailer sold me) 3 Days to Kill Heat (terrible name for a movie since it will never top the original, however cast, director, and plot interest me) Hercules (Dwayne Johnson not Rene Harlin) Dumb and Dumber to Will watch but not excited How to Catch a Monster (giving it a shot) Transformers 4(Losing hope however hopefully they can impress me) The Equalizer Expendables 3 A Dame to Die For(hope it is more Sin City and Less The Spirit) The Winter Soldier Robocop (I hope it is good) Amazing Spiderman 2 Guardians of the Galaxy - The tease at end of Thor was meh... I don't get it. I do hope it interests me more. Hunger Games Mocking Jay 1 --- Not sure what will interest me if there is no more actual Hunger Games. TMNT |

1. A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence - It's been 7 years since the last Roy Andersson film because he self-finances his productions and spends such a long time overseeing the construction of sets and such to have total control over his aesthetic. Luckily though, I happen to love his style so this is easily my most anticipated film of 2014.
2. Richard Linklater's 14 year project. I'm a fan of most of Linklater's work and the sheer ambition of this project has me very interested so I'm hoping it sees a theatrical release in 2014 or that at least I can catch it at a film festival. 3. The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet - This won't make it to the US until 2014 and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's sensibilities mean I'll be in a seat as soon as possible. I'm also hopeful for the 3D to be interesting, but I haven't read much about how/why Jeunet approached that aspect of the film. 4. Noah - The subject matter doesn't interest me much, but I thought the same about The Fountain and that turned out to be one of my favorite films so I'll always be there day one for an Aronofsky film. 5. The Grand Budapest Hotel - Wes Anderson hasn't let me down yet (with films for grown ups at least). 6. Inherent Vice - I considered The Master to be a bit of a miss personally, but I'm still very interested in P.T. Anderson's work and in seeing Jena Malone hopefully come into a new period of important productivity. 7. Only Lovers Left Alive - Again, the subject matter doesn't do much for me per se, but Jim Jarmusch is bound to have an interesting take on it and I love his sense of humor. 8. Nymphomaniac - I've always had a love/hate relationship with Von Trier's work, but I watch them all in the hopes for more to love than to hate. Of course because of the content/length this is going to get a lot of silly hype/hate and I hope to see it before that builds up too much. There are a few others on my radar, but those are the forerunners. Last edited by Dumbhuman; 01-02-2014 at 03:48 PM. Reason: typos |

I'll just list animation for now, since that is where my primary interest lies. Unfortunately, I probably won't get to see most of the foreign films within the year.
Must-See The Lego Movie How To Train Your Dragon 2 The Boxtrolls Big Hero 6 Song of the Sea (Ireland) When Marnie Was There (Japan) Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart (France) Aunt Hilda! (France) Cautiously Optimistic Mr. Peabody & Sherman Home The Congress Miniscule (France) Giovanni's Island (Japan) |
