That's surprising since it's already $30M behind the first movie domestically.

I think this weekend will probably be Smaug or Frozen.

I don't have hopes for that new Bieber documentary movie, I've been hearing it may open with a low number.

Grudge Match, Mitty, Ronin and Wall Street probably have potential overall. I haven't seen the movies yet so I can't judge.

Hopefully it takes this weekend and next. Paranormal Activity is coming out again...the biggest hoax I have seen is from the people who make that series as they get people to pay to watch that .

Hobbit 2 will take this weekend for sure as The Wolf of Wall Street did not have enough to win on its opening day.

To be fair, the new Paranormal Activity film looks like it will actually have things happening in it.

Per NF!

For 12/26

1. Hobbit 2
2. Frozen
3. Anchorman 2
4. Wolf of Wall Street
5. American Hustle

Frozen continues on its great run while Wolf of Wolf Wall Street does not have much of a bite. Surprised about Wolf of WS as I had it winning the weekend.

Plus it's aimed at the Latino audience and on one of the slowest weekends of the year.

Can't help but think Wolf would have done better with a summer release.

Shame about Wolf but maybe word of mouth about all the drugs and sex have started to hurt it, especially now during the holiday season. I still think it will pick up again this weekend though.

Yikes that's bad for WoWS. Don't get why it's doing so bad.

Not totally surprised. My brother tried to go see The Hobbit with his girlfriend and her kids on Christmas Day, but all showings at the theater they picked were sold out!

Guessing because it looks like a gangster movie and it came out during a crowded time at the theatre.

$10.5M for Desolation of Smaug and $9.1M for Frozen on Thursday. DOS will likely take the #1 with over $30M, but Frozen also has a shot at a $30M+ weekend, and could cause an upset.

Frozen has passed Aladdin and has become the #2 highest grossing film (domestic) from Disney Feature Animation. It has a good shot at passing The Lion King's original gross as well. Of course, it has inflation and 3D premiums on its side, but it's impressive nonetheless, considering nothing was able to really come close until now.

I wouldn't consider that 'gangster' though, to me 'gangster' is more like Scarface, Goodfellas, Departed, stuff like that. Because then would a film like Project X be considered a 'gangster' movie?

I would figure though that Leo and Scorsese would be more than enough to give this a big opening.
