I think this weekend will probably be Smaug or Frozen.
I don't have hopes for that new Bieber documentary movie, I've been hearing it may open with a low number. Grudge Match, Mitty, Ronin and Wall Street probably have potential overall. I haven't seen the movies yet so I can't judge. Last edited by Flickster; 12-26-2013 at 11:55 PM. |

![]() Hobbit 2 will take this weekend for sure as The Wolf of Wall Street did not have enough to win on its opening day. Last edited by Blu Titan; 12-27-2013 at 07:30 AM. |

Per NF!
For 12/26 1. Hobbit 2 2. Frozen 3. Anchorman 2 4. Wolf of Wall Street 5. American Hustle Frozen continues on its great run while Wolf of Wolf Wall Street does not have much of a bite. Surprised about Wolf of WS as I had it winning the weekend. |

Not totally surprised. My brother tried to go see The Hobbit with his girlfriend and her kids on Christmas Day, but all showings at the theater they picked were sold out!

$10.5M for Desolation of Smaug and $9.1M for Frozen on Thursday. DOS will likely take the #1 with over $30M, but Frozen also has a shot at a $30M+ weekend, and could cause an upset.
Frozen has passed Aladdin and has become the #2 highest grossing film (domestic) from Disney Feature Animation. It has a good shot at passing The Lion King's original gross as well. Of course, it has inflation and 3D premiums on its side, but it's impressive nonetheless, considering nothing was able to really come close until now. |

I wouldn't consider that 'gangster' though, to me 'gangster' is more like Scarface, Goodfellas, Departed, stuff like that. Because then would a film like Project X be considered a 'gangster' movie?
I would figure though that Leo and Scorsese would be more than enough to give this a big opening. |
