Guys, I am with you, believe me I am. Yes, I considered how a boycott can hurt us. But it hurts Warner more to loose our money! This is a win for us. Again, Warner isn't stupid enough to let us slip through their fingers. If by some freaking "red miracle" we lost Warner, then they were looking for a reason to do so.

No different than when a boyfriend or girlfriend breaks up with you over something stupid. They wanted out and used any reason they could.

I bought the Polar Express really thinking it was about to knock my socks off, when I only knew DVD I was impressed with the movie. Now this new enlightenment has sent me on a downward spiral. That must be why Polar Express doesn't have PCM audio with it. I paid alot for some empty, unused space. Warner has prostituted themselves to Blu-ray. They've found a way to brand a Blu-ray disk with HD-doo doo.

For the record, I do not hate Warner. I hate the half-ass support they give to blu-ray devotees. How would you like if you ordered a steak for dinner and I gave you grilled bologna? "Hey, it came from the same animal, it's no different."

I once sent back my linguine in an Italian restaurant for not being salted when they cooked it. Instead of offering to fix the problem, they excused themself. Excuse ME but who is paying for the meal? ME. Who is eating it? ME. They never removed it from the bill, I had to pay it but I'll never go back.

Trust me, Warner is not going to let us slip through their fingers. They want to keep the money flowing. But soon Warner will be known for poor transfers and even when they fix the problem, that reputation will be hard to shake.

I know a lot of people get worried when people talk about boycotting Warner titles. But, I have confidence that Warner is smart enough to know the difference between a lack of interest Warner titles, and such EXTREME interest in HDM that the consumer is willing to forego initial Warner offerings out of hope that it will send a message, and Warner will commit to a full Blu-ray effort.

We know there are individuals within the studios totally committed (perhaps obsessed is a better word) with maximum video and audio quality. We have one insider (paidgeek) where we have no doubt at all.

It's hard to know whether the studio execs give a damn about the videophile/audiophile, but any of them reading should realize that all these "boycott" calls come from a desire for the very, very best quality achievable.

This is one of the most ludicrous statements I've ever read here. It won't hurt Warner at all, so please stop spreading this meme.

Why would you post two statements that directly contradict each other one after another.

Please, stop this campaign. From a commercial standpoint, this is almost as bad as the "blu-blood" crap.

Almost, but not quite.

Didn't intend to contradict myself. Simply saying Warner is not stupid enough to watch us ignore their offerings because we know it is substandard. Should they let their blu-ray sales die off, then they didn't give a crap to begin with. Isn't this what we are essentially seeing with those HD DVD transfers? That they don't give a crap.

Don't excuse them as some others have done. They are a MULTI-MILLION dollar studio. The extra money spent to remaster a bd version is money well spent when the reviews come in.

There are plenty of movies I never bought on DVD because they weren't great enought to woo me. But I have started to buy some of those disregarded flicks because blu-ray finally gives me what I wanted.

It seems no one is reading my addendum to the original post, either.

I believe Warner is very close to going Blu-ray exclusive, so I can only continue to support them by buying the titles I want.
When they go Blu-exclu you will see the bandwidth come up, for sure.

At the very least they're starting to acknowledge the capacity by putting all the Harry Potter 5 extras in 1080p HD when the HD DVD gets stuck with standard def only.

After they drop HD-DVD they should go back and redo all the titles that HD-DVD basically screwed up for us. Superman (#1) has to be redone entirely. In the meantime I'll support them by buying their movies (though under protest).

Very cool, did not know this. I would call that using BD's capacity instead of just a straight port.

Kind of like when they re-released all of their Combo-Discs as just regular HD-DVDs... says a lot about combo discs, garbage.

I know the Potter BDs will have PCM audio; anyone know about the HD-DVD versions? A couple of the films are right around the 2h 40min mark...I think about Transformers and I wonder...

Edit: Seems Our Man in Indonesia would also like to know.

Yep, Warner is coming around...quickly.

This is just a ridiculous thread. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face...Everyone, and I mean everyone, should continue to buy WB Blu-Rays (if they like the movie). If there's one thing we cannot under-estimate it's that HD DVD idiots like rdjam, plazman, etc will put up a good fight and will go out kicking and screaming. On the Blu side, we have numbers (of supporters, players, and company support) in our favor. We must use these numbers to our advantage and close the deal NOW.

Within a year or two, we're all going to look back on this and laugh at how close we were to the end of this format war (and didn't know it as we sit here in 4Q07). Just watch it play out in the first half of next year...

Probably Dolby Digital Plus, just like Transformers. Oh, but, it SOUNDS just the same as PCM!
