The Beyond: ”The seven dreaded gateways to hell are concealed in seven cursed places…

And on the day the gates of hell are opened, the dead will walk the earth!

From legendary Italian horror master Lucio Fulci come the ultimate classic of supernatural terror. A remote and cursed hotel, built over one of the seven gateways, becomes a yawning malevolent abyss that begins devouring both the bodies and the souls of all who enter in a graphic frenzy of gory crucifictions, chunkblowing chain-whippings, eyeball impalements, sulphuric acid meltdowns, flesh-eating tarantulas, throat-shredding demon dogs and ravenous bloodthirsty zombies. THE BEYOND is a towering schievement in hair-raising, mind-bending cinematic terror!

WARNING Due to its SHOCKING and VIOLENT subject matter, no one under 17 should view this film.

Is this for real? Those are the exact same specs as the last US release.

That's exactly what it is: the DVD press release, nothing more. From the article: "[...] we’ve provided details below on the bonus features that will likely be ported over to the new high-def versions."

So it's not news at all, really.

Yes, these are the old extras, but these are the bare minimum we should expect to get ported over I imagine, plus new extras in top of that.

We have heard that Cannibal and The Beyond will be getting new extras, and I've heard Cannibal's are being done by High Rising Production from the UK.

His intentions were already quoted in post #30. It makes it pretty clear. Why ask him again?

Extras may be nothing new, but with Grindhouse at the helm, this can only be the best version released for home consumption.

Default Arrow Steelbook or Grindhouse DVD????

How is the audio and picture quality on this version???

http://www.diabolikdvd.com/category/Horror-[sl]-Thriller/Beyond-(Fulci-LE-Arrow-UK-Steelbook)-(Blu~Ray).html

I really wanna see this film (as it's the only classic Fulci film I haven't seen nor bought yet) but I'm impatiently tired of waiting for the Grindhouse Blu-Ray release. Should I buy that steelbook edition ( which looks awesome by the way) or would I be better off just buying this Grindhouse DVD version:

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B001D5C1OO/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1407916161&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40

Would around $40 Canadian from DiabolikDVD be a good price for that Arrow Steelbook or would I just paying for a crappy quality Blu-Ray and DVD combo of this film housed in a pretty steelbook????

I'll double dip for sure whenever the upcoming Grindhouse Blu-Ray is released but I just wanna know my best option for seeing this movie right now as I really really wanna watch this for the first time ASAP.

The Arrow Blu-ray (assuming the steelbook has the same transfer as the previous release) is a bit more detailed than GR's DVD, but not by a terrible lot considering it's Blu-ray and ought to look so much better. It's a pretty lousy transfer, but owning both it and the GR DVD, Arrow's Blu-ray is my preference.

Whatever GR does with it and whenever it comes, there's no doubt in my mind it'll blow away the rest of the video presentations, but if you're wanting to see it now (it's my favorite Fulci movie, by the way), I guess check out these screencap comparisons and see which you prefer.

Yeah I'm leaning towards the Arrow steelbook (because let's be honest that steelbook looks fantastic) unless someone can convince me to grab the Grindhouse DVD instead.

Even if the Arrow steelbook is subpar or so-so in terms of sound and picture quality, I'm sure it'll tide me over until I double dip for this whenever Grindhouse releases the (presumably) definitive edition of this on Blu-Ray.

Plus my inner nerd wants that steelbook.

Anchor Bay released this as well. As a bonus feature the same scene was included without the tint.

Grindhouse Releasing brings Lucio Fulci's THE BEYOND back to the city where it was filmed this Saturday 10/18 at the Prytania Theater in New Orleans! Don't miss this 35mm screening!

Next, THE BEYOND returns to BOSTON at the Coolidge Corner Theatre, midnights 11/21 & 11/22!

Unfortunately, the film's production manager Larry Ray will not be able to attend our New Orleans screening as planned. However, Larry will appear in the bonus features of the new Blu-ray coming soon from Grindhouse Releasing! Stay tuned - we will announce details of all our upcoming Blu-ray and theatrical releases here and on our website.

That's cool - they're using the art that Anchor Bay used for their tin. This one's not a top priority for me as I have multiple editions of the film but I'll still grab this.
