I got these books for Christmas:



Thief of Thieves has been one of my favorite comic book series in recent years. Although I follow it monthly, it's nice to get the trade paperbacks for easier re-reading.

On Set with John Carpenter is a terrific photo book filled with great behind-the-scenes pictures of Halloween, The Fog, Escape From New York, Halloween II and Christine. Lots of great little tidbits from Carpenter and various cast/crew members spread throughout as well.

The three paperbacks are some of the early novels Michael Crichton originally wrote under a pen name while in medical school, so technically Odds On is his very, very first novel. There are three more such early books I need to get and then I will have a complete Michael Crichton library. (In terms of his fictional work, at least.)
