I'd be down for that for sure. With Jennifer Lawrence in the lead it could be really good. If only I trusted FOX to make a really good movie. If this was Marvel then I'd have no doubts it would be good.

It's such a travesty when a mystique standalone comes before Gambit and Deadpool.

It would be interesting to see Lawrence's Mystique undergo the gradual character transformation into a colder, cynical, and ruthless villain. I'm not sure if this necessitates a spin-off movie dedicated entirely to her, though.

In all honesty, though, the X-Men movies, while fun, have not aged well for me. I loved the first two movies upon their release, but the digital effects are quite dated now. X-Men: First Class was my favorite of the bunch, but I have a threshold for how many times I can revisit it.

On the other hand, though, the special effects in the two Fantastic Four movies are dated right now, but I still enjoy those movies. Maybe the X-Men stories just fall flat with me after viewing each film two or three times.
The x films are fun and I far prefer the x-men to iron man/avengers comics but the x films treatment of founding x-men like cyclops, beast, and iceman was just poor. Everyone who isn't wolverine, professor x, and magneto feel half baked. Modern superhero films like the avengers have done a much stronger job of sharing screentime and allowing for multiple heros to shine. I didn't even like winter soldier but it was refreshing to see Black Widow in such a massive role.

I'm hoping Marvel someday can swoop up the rights to the x-men so we can see the avengers vs the x-men as that comic was a blast. Cyclops/Emma Frost/Magik and co all blessed with phoenix powers while Cap and the Avengers figure a way to take them down. It'd be riveting stuff that could probably be put into a trilogy. This will never happen but a fan can hope. I at least want to see Hugh Jackman and Chris Evans kick the crap out of eachother before hugh is too old.

It's not a good idea because Fox only cares that it would make money just because Jennifer Lawrence is in it so they could care less about the story.

Fox would even make a stand-alone prequel Senator Kelly if it starred Lawrence as the young Senator Kelly.

Or, they're so convinced that Marvel really IS going to make that Black Widow "Comic-book babe" spinoff (which CA:tWS pretty much got out of Marvel's system, we hope), they want to beat them to the punch.

Or, again, maybe all the studios are that misogynistic.

I hope they do make a Black Widow movie. I think TWS proved she can hold her own.

And of course the obvious way to take Brian DePalma's MYSTIQUE would be to follow her lesbian relationship with Destiny and have Mystique turning into a male so the two can conceive Nightcrawler.

This. If just to prove that Lawrence is not a bankable star, she's just been lucky so far.

I'm saying, I don't think she's been lucky. I think she's just done good roles and done well with them.

I think she's been lucky in the sense that there are lots of good/ great actors out there giving good/ great performances that don't get noticed. She was lucky enough to get noticed.

For the record i think she's a serviceable actress but then i've only seen her in The Hunger Games (1st one) and X-Men: First Class.

Lol, well so was Kristen Stewart and she has the acting abilities of a brick wall. I see what you're saying. I personally just think Jennifer Lawrence is one who has earned her spotlight. She's a good actress. She's personable. She's funny. She just seems humble, which makes me like her more.
