That is pretty rough. I remember when CDN members where selling us slips and we were trying to get them close to cost. That didn't pan out because the seller always wanted like $30+ for shipping.
Yup, shipping in Canada is mad expensive. It just cracks me up that I can have a steelbook sent across an ocean for like $5 but to send one over an imaginary line cost $10-15.

For certain titles I will do it but when the movie is $27 and the shipping is anywhere from $10-20 depending on the seller at that point we are almost at kimchi prices.
These days, it certainly is bad to import from Canada. But, for quite a while, you guys were laughing your asses off when it came to buying from Canada. At one point when the Canadian dollar was at $0.60 USD, you were instantly getting a 40% discount on every Canadian list price. THAT is probably what they were referring to. As is, right now, we Canadians have the benefit of taking advantage of the US prices. Since the Canadian dollar is still relatively high in comparison with the US dollar, combined with the incredibly low prices, we can actually save some decent coin in buying from the US.

Probably gonna hate myself over this, but buckled on this one from a seller on eBay. I've had good luck with blind-buy steels, but this and Jack Ryan both seem iffy in my book.

Thus continues my growing obsession...

how was the 3D in this movie? If it's good, I might just get the regular packaging with 3D intead.

It is quite simple.

Futureshop probably keeps track of how many 3D movies are being sold and how many non-3D movies are being sold (if they are separated) and they are probably seeing that non-3D is selling more.

Also, when people are buying TV's, they are not buying it because it's a 3D TV..they buy it for other reasons. The 3D feature is one they'll likely never use. I'm also guessing that they keep track of how many 3D glasses are being sold (that are not included in the TV itself) and are discovering that they are not selling like they thought, even to families that need more pairs that what is included with the TV...the majority of the customers have said with their wallets...they're not interested in 3D

I heard the 3D is awesome in this, and with it being mostly animated I imagine it will be. Plus, the 3D set is only $2 more than the Steelbook. So as much as I love Steelbooks I will have to pass it over for more content ... 3D disc.
