First Bloodborne alpha invites roll out to Europe

Alpha testing invites for Bloodborne are now appearing in select email inboxes. Joystiq's own Sinan Kubba received an invite to the "small-scale test," which features early access to the game and "a sample of its online features," according to the email.

Those that would like to take part in the testing phase for From Software's next sort-of-like-Dark Souls game can apply on the PSN Beta page. The trial is for European players only, as invites are granted at SCEE's discretion. The enrollment period ends on Tuesday, September 23 at 11:59am BST (6:59am EST). Bloodborne will launch on February 5 in Japan and early 2015 in Europe.

Bloodborne Coming to the PlayStation 4 on February 6

Japanese developer FromSoftware and Sony PlayStation today revealed the new Tokyo Game Show gameplay trailer for action RPG Bloodborne and announced that the title will be available exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on February 6, 2015.


In addition, they also revealed the Collector's Edition for Bloodborne, available on the same date. It includes a special Steelbook collector's case, an exclusive premium art book featuring concept art from the game, as well as the complete soundtrack featuring all of the music from the game’s score. The Collector's Edition will be available for $79.99 at participating retailers, and will only be available in limited quantities.


In the game, you search for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire. Danger, death and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific world, and you must discover its darkest secrets in order to survive.

I agree. I'm not even a Demon's Souls fan and the game has me excited. For the Order, I'm almost looking forward more to the setting and the story than actually playing the game. Bloodborne's gameplay just looks better, in my opinion.

The setting, characters and monster designs is what got me hooked.

Gameplay looks good but without those 3 elements I would most likely skip this game.

Yeah, it reminds me a lot of Robert E. Howard's underrated Solomon Kane stories. (There's a decent movie out there as well, but the stories are better, IMO).

I'm such a sucker for soundtracks being included in games and movies. Considering that this is only $20 more than standard edition plus you get an artbook, I could totally go for this. Once I hear more, especially hands on stuff.

They've kept some Bloodborne info as "surprise" for the onstage gameplay demo stream of tomorrow (21st in Japan).

If it's revealed that Bloodborne features 2 player co-op gameplay (on top of the more traditional DemonSouls-esque Invasion mode), NeoGaf is going to explode

I have always stayed clear of Demon's and Dark Souls games with their "Hardcore only" moniker attached, but I have to admit this looks so good and the atmosphere is so dense that I had to pre-order the collector edition.

Server stress test for multiplayer functions in several phases. Players will have access to the same map in the publicized TGS demo and will test multiplayer functions such as leaving messages for other players and cooperative play.

There are going to be several online functions not yet announced—the alpha will be testing only a portion of what the final product will have. What's yet to come will be announced at a later date so please be excited.

Players who are interested in the alpha test, have PS+ and are based in Japan can download a raffle ticket [応募券] from the Japan Playstation Store. The amount of applicants who will be accepted has not been announced, but I've seen several Japanese gaming websites that have drawings to win alpha spots and there seems to be a good number of open slots just based on that. Raffle winners will be notified by email on 2013/09/30 (Tues).

The alpha will come in three phases as the game is updated. The contents and goals of each phase appears to be different and what each entails will be clarified as the alpha approaches.

Phase 1: 2014/10/01（Wed）20：00～23：00

Phase 2: 2014/10/03（Fri) 20：00～23：00

Phase 3: 2014/10/05（Sun）20：00～23：00
※Phase 3 will be a combination of the activities of phase 1 and 2.

I'm going to go on a limb here and say that *unless curveball from either LBP3, DC or Sunset Overdrive* it looks to me that Bloodborne will be the very first AAA retail console exclusive (that's not a HD remake - otherwise TLOU already has got that) to have a 90 or above Metacritic in the end.
