Gareth shows promise for the project... the screenwriter however, is another story.

I have to say I am glad it's one of the spinoff films, and not one of the trilogy, as I have full confidence in Abrams, just not sure on Edwards yet.

Interesting. I currently have a half hour left to go with Monsters as I was forced to stop it unfortunately, but so far it has been pretty darn good. I am curious why I keep seeing people say it is terrible, but I don't want it spoiled, haha. I will consider this after I finish it, I guess it could fall apart during the final 30.

Is it true that he pretty much did All the Special Effects on his computer? I swear I read that somewhere

I didn't think it was terrible at all. It was pretty good (but not great).

Disney just needs to either $&!% or get off the pot already.

Hire Spielberg.

A movie full of alluding to a light saber battle only to cut away just as it begins.

Worth noting is Gary Whitta's official thoughts on Lucas:

Even though I haven't seen Gozilla yet, Guillermo del Toro should have gotten the job.

He would do a great job.
Maybe the next one?

I'm still waiting on a Steven Spielberg directed Star Wars film. Maybe Episode VIII?

I wouldn't trust Edwards with a Star Wars film unless it was a Rancor origins story.

If this is a Qui-Gon movie or an Obi-Wan movie or maybe even a combination of the two then I would be over the moon, but I doubt that will happen...

Though Liam Neeson is in demand right now, so never say never...

Finished Monsters and really enjoyed it. Confused why people would hate it so much, but as always, to each their own.

Love the choice of Edwards for a SW film, but this is material that can't get by on a middling script due to excellent direction, atmosphere and spectacle the way Godzilla did. It's the writing phase that has me concerned here, but who knows, maybe it will be something great.

What does that have to do with 'STAR WARS spinoff hires "Godzilla" Director Gareth Edwards'?

Lucas has nothing to do with Star Wars movies anymore, except as a consultant (maybe?)

I think you're getting your Star Wars threads mixed up and meant to post this elsewhere.

Because the article also mentions this guy being hired as a screenwriter, and evidence that he disapproves of the filth that Lucas put out from 1997 onwards bodes well for the direction the new film will take.

What article are you talking about? It just a post from Gary Whitta ripping the OT to Apple TV. As a matter of fact, it's from 09/03/2011. If there is more to this with an article, then I'm not seeing it.

The OP article about the people attached to write and direct this film. Their personal views regarding Star Wars are certainly relevant to the topic.

Well, that's fine and all. But if you looked at my post, it was in reference to redxrebellion's post about Gary Whitta's thoughts on Lucas. Not on the article the OP posted.

Recap from redxrebellion:

"Worth noting is Gary Whitta's official thoughts on Lucas:

http://m.neogaf.com/showpost.php?p=3...postcount=2059"

This is what I was referring to.
