Haha! It's really a fun project, I wouldn't mind making a few more sets. Honestly though, it's so easy to do though. The hardest part is heat shrinking the pieces together. I even heard of one guy using his gas stove on the heat shrink.

I'm curious about the banana plugs though. I didn't see the female end on the posts. Sorry for the boneheaded inquiry.

Your speakers come with caps covering the banana plug inlets ...... You just have to remove them

Yep, there are indeed caps covering the banana plug inlets.

Having come into this new knowledge last night, I added some plugs to my DIY cables and they look much better now, more finished. I'll get some pics up. Thanks so much for the tip, precisely the reason I joined this site, knowledgeable posters like you!

Derek ~ Welcome & I know I am A little late on that but I have been away for awhile.

You have a nice clean setup there & I am sure you enjoy it Just remember that we all start somewhere & mine was far less then what you have (HTIB) Once the obsession in this hobby starts then you will spend thousands as I have Is it worth it ~ Every cent of it

Having read your thread ~ My Monster Power Conditioner has saved my setup many times & I would not be without it for nothing, Just my 2cts

Your power to your home is constantly fluctuating ~ Going up & down. A power Conditioner will send a constant ( non-fluctuating) current to what you have plugged into it. I have had my power conditioner shut down a few times just before the lights went out when I have lost power. Wouldn't be without one Billy

Nothing budget about this system. This system looks great. I know you were trying to keep price in mind but you deff pushed the envelope and got some great gear for great prices. Digging your DIY cables!!!

Hey there, Russ! I know it's been quite a while since I posted, life got a little crazy. I added some equipment and updated my original post. Here is a fresh shot! It's still a budget system, but does just fine. We watched Rogue One a couple nights ago and I have to say I enjoyed it more at home than at the theater since I could tune the audio to my preferences. The dog was not happy about it though!

Nice upgrades my friend ........ What's next on the agenda ? JBL surrounds, maybe a second subwoofer . BTW: How do you like your new sub compared to your old one ?

Next up? Tough one. I do think it's about time to replace those Sony surrounds with some better satellites though. However the matching JBL ES series is discontinued. Am I ok to replace with unmatching surrounds? Probably not as big a deal as the fronts.

As for the new 12" JBL woofer, WOW. That thing hits hard. Shakes the walls and rattles teeth. I keep it around 40% usually, and that still enough bass to feel. I moved the little Sony 10" to my home office, it seems to be just fine there. Looking forward to getting re-addicted to this hobby!
