Looks like The Purge will be #1 this weekend! Dominated Friday Box Office by a lot.

It will see a large drop on Saturday, typical of horror films, but especially horror sequels. It should finish with around $27M for the weekend, behind Apes $33-34M.

Nope, Apes will repeat...horror films like The Purge are frontloaded.

On Friday, you have fan pilgrimages, second-place running hits and empty family films. Never believe Fridays.

Purge seems to be getting good, or at least they-didn't-drop-the-ball reviews by fan standards, but it's still just a fan assault.
I only saw Planes 2, and that didn't drop the ball either

, but Apes isn't out of the running yet.

They poll a handful of screenings early in the weekend, maybe the first two or three shows on Friday. It's not a representative sample at all. Cinemascore is nothing more than a marketing tool.

When I went to the afternoon showing of it yesterday it was a packed house. Only movie I can see stealing some of it's audience away in the future is Guardians of the Galaxy.
