Hmm. Didn't realize TRON Legacy is the only 3D BD with variable aspect ratios.

However, this wasn't filmed in IMAX format. It was completely digital 2K. The frame just opens up when the characters are in the grid.

Portions of the film were shot in IMAX format, but not in 3D. It was converted to 3D in post.

I'll probably hold off for an eventual trilogy release, but this is definitely tempting...

Approx how much of the film is in IMAX? (not as much as TDKR I'm guessing?)

Not as much as RISES, no but I think it's more than KNIGHT.

Getting this, if it gets a release in the UK.

Leaves an even more sour taste though, after all the sh*t I had from "Entertainment Store" for one of their steelbooks.

I love, love, LOVE both films...but have never purchased either of them on BD, in anticipation of this day. Thank you Paramount...this will be a Day 1 purchase for sure!

I was never a huge fan of the original, but I loved "Into Darkness." By the time I was ready to buy these on blu, the only available version of the original was the one without features and the regular version of the sequel, so to see both films in one set with all the features, this is a definite buy for me. Probably first day, too.

I like Paramount's reason for doing this, so it's a double-dip I can sort of get behind, but I personally don't need another big box like this on my shelf just to house two movies I already own. I'll probably break down and get it, but I'll probably wait a bit before doing so.

Really torn on this release. I wish they had just done a three disc set that included Star Trek ID IMAX 2D, IMAX 3D and the bonus disc.

I have no interest in owning yet another copy of the first one, especially since there will be no new bonus features. And really bummed about the lack of IMAX 3D version of ID.

Great! Another version to buy. I already have 5 editions of the first film and 4 editions of the second film. If they release a trilogy pack then I would gladly buy them too. There's not too many Star Treks to buy.

Going to pass. I love the reboot series so I am going to keep buying the singles until they are done with this group or the movies suck and they release a trilogy or whatever.

Well damn! I'm a sucker... I want it for the IMAX version of Star Trek Into Darkness... Oh well, I guess I'll keep the Target Exclusive to have a 3D copy as well.

Default Rebate Possible?

I have the Target edition of Star Trek Into Darkness, and I recently acquired the 2009 Star Trek film's 3 disc edition used from Amazon Marketplace. As tempting it would be to see the IMAX version (since I wasn't able to watch it originally in IMAX), I already have at least 2/3 of the bonus features that the new set will have either on BD or on iTunes (haven't seen all of the Star Trek Into Darkness iTunes commentary but it should look better on BD).

Unless it's at $20 or below, it will be hard to justify upgrading.

Update: Apparently, Paramount is considering offering rebates to those who bought last year's release of Star Trek Into Darkness. Lets hope they do at least to give us another reason to considering upgrading.

Hope they release the Into Darkness 2-Disc separately.

Hmm….it all depends about the rebate program. Already own Star Trek 3-Disc (2009) and Star Trek: Into Darkness Target Exclusive. I usually like to get the complete set with all bonus features.

Default Star Trek (2009) / Star Trek: Into Darkness (2013) -Special New Edition: Sept...

I've bought both movies countless times so the rebate program doesn't matter much unless the new ones are free.
