UK release available for pre-order again at Amazon with confirmed release date...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Hobbit-D...ug+3d+extended

This will do very nicely, £21.50 minus about £12 for the 3D discs will leave me with the 2D film, 2x Bonus Discs and case for around £10

Come on where is the picture of the bookends! What's the chances though that it's the same as the US bookends that they got for An Unexpected Journey....
(Same as the French standard version of DoS)

Hopefully it'll be in the Amazon's "deals of the day" around Xmas like Unexpected Journey was. £10 if I remember correctly.

Damn it Groge, seeing the thread pop up again made me think they had been revealed!!

Did the US get bookends for AUJ? Their Extended Edition came with the Bilbo/Gollum statue. Their theatrical version of DoS came with the Guards of Erabor bookends.

Their Extended Edition of DoS has this:

Though I haven't seen them in person, neither that nor the Gollum/Bilbo one from last year have anything on the Argonath/Smeagol/Minas Tirith statues from the LOTR trilogy. They were works of art.

Haha sorry mate! I've experienced that before with a thread, thinking that something had been revealed and is was just someone asking if anything had been revealed

Oops my bad. Yeah you're right, I should have checked. I have the Gollum/Bilbo statue for the extended AUJ from France. It's so sexy! Better than The Two Towers Gollum (which I own) in my opinion.

So yeah, I'm guessing this release will be the Guards of Erabor bookends. Will consider getting them because they are cool and would be nice to have some bookends as opposed to another statue but that Hobbits/barrel statue would sit nicely with my Gollum/Bilbo....
Might have to import it from the US or even France or Germany.
Too many options!!

Yep approx. £10.50 I think it was as I brought it to. Its one of the reasons why ive yet to buy this film as I just thought id wait for extended version this time.

I havent got a 3d setup but look the lenticular artwork and embossed case with unexpected journey release so hopefully this gets same treatment.

Is it not strange there's no mention of 'Extended Edition' there?

Looks like the US 3D Theatrical cut Collector's Edition.

Looks like it could be just mock art. Hopefully they don't have that cover as it's just the same as the standard DoS 3D steelbook.
Bookends will probably be the same though

Fingers crossed!Would be very happy with those bookends - my LOTR set between the Argonath, my Hobbit set between the Guards of Erebor - perfect.

I hope the bookend image is false. I like the bookends but I want the standard extended edition packaging in the green case. So it matches my Unexpected Journey packaging. If it includes the steelbook or different packaging then I'm cancelling.

Just noticed the price - £90?! Hmmm. Much more expensive than the LOTR sets were (which went for £45-£55 - and even though there were on DVD the price of the standalone DVD was around £18, the same as this blu-ray will be). Am hoping for a price drop to justify it.

Hm. Might wait till an Amazon sale this time. Didn't like the film enough to spend more on it than the first film (which was £15 on its' launch.) I thought the film had too much filler as it was and the studios' interference damaged the pace of the story, so I'm not really certain an extended edition is the way to go here.

I'd prefer this green version as it would match my French extended edition of AUJ

I pre-ordered it earlier, must have just got in before it was pulled. Maybe the confusing temp photo is why it was pulled - seems like Warners haven't quite decided how the main set is coming.

EDIT: It's back up for pre-order - no details (packaging, price) have changed.
