It's probably a good thing I'm not in charge of this release, as it would probably go way over budget and wind up as a 6BD release, to include 3D!!

About that...do you think the artwork would include the twin towers? Obviously they play a prominent part in the film. I hope they do, and I hope those, deeply affected by the senseless acts of 9/11 wouldn't take offense.

Yeah, this movie means so much to me. I know I'll be disappointed when they release all the specs for this release, because no matter how great this release is going to be, I'll always want more and better for this movie

Maybe they'll just include the head of the Liberty Statue again?

I hope they don't, as I'm assuming that will be on the reverse side, and seem kind of repetitive. Hopefully a nice mash up, that really sums up the film and all the characters/locations.
I'll be happy with whatever they come up with, as I'm just happy to see this release finally happening.

I doubt they would use the towers as some would no doubt be sensitive to it. But there are plenty of other options that would still be badass.

Difficult decision. I understand those who are closely affected will never get over it, and every time they see those towers it takes a bit out of their day. Heck, every time me and my girlfriend see them in a film, it takes us out of it for just a moment, because you can't help but reflect. But the fact is these buildings were featured in many different Hollywood films - tons of them. And that isn't going to change. So do those in marketing try to avoid the images being so prominently displayed out of fear it may upset people? I'd hate to have to make that decision. They play a big part in this film so it makes sense that it is part of the artwork.

Meteor is another film with a very unfortunate poster of the twin towers, being struck, no less, by a meteorite. The US poster for that film was different though, and the blu-ray ray went with alternate artwork anyhow.

As always, yes. The only Shout! release I know of that is not region locked is The Vampire Lovers.

I knew that there was a good reason why I've held off on buying the existing Blu-ray of Escape from New York. This is good news.

It always starts all "awesome, I can't believe my favorite movie is getting a SE release", but then turns to "Shout ****ed up the transfer and everything else, it's a dnr-fest and the worst BD ever".
I guess the gate is still shut on the haters, but they will be here soon. I'm all for this and have no problem that I own the 2-disc dvd and the BD. I've watched that BD a few times already so I got my $6 out of it.

I think it should be okay to use the Twin Towers. It's been well over a decade now. I understand that some people are sensitive, but I don't think the artwork should be altered because of it.

That's because some just have unreasonable expectations concerning any particular release.
I get that we, as enthusiasts, want it all...but you have to be reasonable. In SF's case, the very backbone of their existance is about giving the fans those releases that the big studios pass over. I'm sure they would love to make every release a suped up 4-disc Ultimate Extended Directors Theatrical Cut, but time/money/availabiliy might prohibit some things.

I'll go on record right now as saying, this is my favorite film of all time, and I'm going to like this release no matter what!
I'm 43 and have spend long enough, in previous formats, worrying if this/or that will be included in X release. I'm done fretting over it. I've learned to like. It's so much easier than digging your heels in and waging war over a battle you probably won't ever win(just see Star Wars).
I'm all about the fun of blu-ray watching/owning/collecting.

Sure, some will say I'm settling, so what. As long as I'm happy, that's all that matters!

Shout had a number of titles get through QC without region coding but because folks on here kept mentioning it they saw to it that it wouldn't happen again.

Q The Winged Serpent
Starcrash
Electraglide In Blue
Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry / Race With The Devil
Captain America
A Boy And His Dog
The Vampire Lovers

All region free

Possibly a few more.

4K is highly unlikely. Way too expensive for Shout! And please no added prologue. Include it in the special features section, yes. But not in the actual movie.

I was talking about the newly designed artwork for this set, as the original US poster doesn't have the WTC shown, I believe. Just the Empire State building in the background.
As mar3o said, I would not want to be the one to make the decision...as I don't think any amount of time can be enough time.
Perhaps if they do a mash up of images, they could show a birds eye view of the glider parked on top of the tower? Or maybe a small image of the glider flying towards the towers, in the background of the overall mash up.
Countless possibilites here, and I trust they will turn out something quite nice, as I've enjoyed, virtually, every CE artwork to date.

You are right. The added prologue is not canon.
