It looks like there was a recent 4K restoration. It will be released in theaters
next year. I hope there is a new 4K/Blu-ray release soon. I think this is Satoshi Kon's most visually arresting film.

This is the one Kon title I held off on getting in case it got a better release. Sounds like I made the right call.

The UHD steelbook is now available for pre-order in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The release date is shown as October 26th. I doubt the accuracy of this date, given Sony hasn't officially announced this release yet.
