Looks like I'm going to be in the market for a bigger HDD. I just picked up Alien:Isolation, Destiny, The Evil Within & Metro redux today. I was at 170GB before those games. Now I'm a 79GB. I'm looking to get a 2TB hybrid drive.

So roughly 18 games before your HD gets full? Seems a bit dodgy to me.

I had under 80gb free when I looked yesterday so I went ahead and uninstalled a few games. I think I will get a 2TB hard drive for christmas .. but man downloading all the DLC I have will take me a life time.. I might as well just go out for a few days while my slow internet downloads them.

As I said that list does not include the indie games that I've gotten free via PS+ or the ones I've bought.

EDIT: I updated my post showing all the games I have, minus demos.

Which is why I don't get why Sony didn't include the back up the HDD feature from the PS3 on to the PS4.

I am glad I purchase almost all of my titles in retail (except the ones that would be download only). So when the time comes where I need to uninstall games due to running out of space, it won’t take long to reinstall them.

Not really. PS4, as opposed to Ps3, installs all games to the hard drive, physical or otherwise.

I deleted Blacklight retribution and War thunder (never bothered to play either game) so now I'm up to 107GB left (I deleted DC universe a long time ago). I'll DL those games again when I purchase a 2TB (or larger) HDD.

Yeah it just seems silly to not include a useful feature like that..

With Sony, go figure. What makes it worse, they are not going to include that feature with the 2.0 FW. People *****ing and moaning about DNLA support when they complaining about not being able to back up your HDD like on the PS3 (many people have been close to filling up the HDD they they have had to delete items). This feature is more needed then the stupid DNLA.

Default Upgrading to a 2TB hard drive

I have a few questions for those who upgraded their hd. First how do I make sure that all my save files and codes do not get erased? Will I need to get a USB drive to put the latest firmware on it and then upload it to my ps4 after the new hard drive is installed? And lastly I have a few games downloaded from the PS store. How do I make sure that I don't lose these games? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You will need a flash drive for the firmware. You can copy your saves files, pictures and captures to a flash as well, or saves to the cloud if you have PS+. Any games you bought off the Store will need to be re-downloaded to the new hard drive, all game disc data will need to be re-installed, and any software updates for them as well. It's a long process and will be until we can backup our systems to an external like we could with the PS3.

I should do this at some point since it's only a matter of time before I run out of space. Though in the long run I still worry about 2TB even being enough.

I wish the PS4 allowed you to just back everything up to an external hard drive and then "dump" it onto the new internal hard drive, like was the case with PS3.

Heck, for that matter, I also wish the PS4 would allow you to just actually use external hard drives to store the games on like the Xbox One does. I wish one system would have the options for both changing the internal drive and using externals with it.

I have been fighting with this thing all morning and all last night. I go to Sony's support page but the latest firmware that they have up is 2.02 and when I put that on my flash drive and try to reinitialize my PS4 it's telling me I need 2.03 or later. This is extremely frustrating.
