It holds up perfectly well. Definitely worth checking out if you've never had the chance.

The Pilot episode is essentially a feature film and actually works as a great starting point.

It was cheesy back then, but still watchable enough to have a good laugh at it. It’s just cringey to watch now.

I looked for this on a streaming service and couldn't find it.
I was a kid when it aired, and didn't watch it on a regular basis.
Now I kind of want to watch the show.

If you're in the US, I think it's available on NBC's website.

Peacock & the ROKU Channel have it available free with ads. Find an episode guide for the final season as the last few episodes are out of order. "Freefall" is the proper series finale

I love Miami Vice, but the only proper way to enjoy it is on streaming, with subs. Sadly, the Blu-Ray release has no subs/CC, so you have to listen carefully to understand some of the dialogue and police terms.

I have the BD set. It's not something I could binge these days, but I'm slowly making my way through it. The MTV-style music sequences don't have the same magic for me anymore that they did back in the day, but the music itself is still great, and the writing can be surprisingly good. Sonny, Rico, the Lieutenant etc. are still cool, even though the clothing isn't anymore. But I imagine the show would be difficult to get into for anyone who didn't watch it in the 80s.

I gave up and never returned.

My buddy stayed w/ it till the end. And he admits it lost some luster down the line. He said the "Evil" Crockett story arc was questionable and they were really focusing on Crocket and making Tubbs less significant.

Edward James Olmos injected an extra level of hard-cool to that cast.

I think his portrayal is "underrated".....as far as Cop shows.

If I remember correctly, and it was a long time ago and I am too lazy to look anything up but it was a combination of issues.
Their time slot got changed with season 3 moving it an hour earlier bringing it into competition with Dallas I think was the big thing at the time.
Phillip Michael Thomas had gotten more and more into new age stuff and working more on albums.
I know there was a writer shake up sometime around there too

I kinda recall that like Batman '66 or The Love Boat there were celebrities injected into the show.

I remember The Fat Boys being on the avenue interacting w/ the Crockett & Tubbs. It was cool a subtle at first.

There was a street comedian who worked around Greenwich Village...usually around the basketball courts on West 4. The Noog Man/Noogie...I remember he getting a couple of episodes. But he wasnt a "celebrity". Funny dude.

I just watched Little Miss Dangerous and the end sequence with the music by PIL was great.

The Noogie stuff with Charlie Barnett was great but he got in drug issues and had to be written out.
So many celebs wanted to be on the show or even got their start. Phil Collins, Glenn Fry, Liam Neeson, Ed Oniell, Gene Simmons, Frank Zappa, Sheena Easton, Jimmy Smits, Bruce Willis, Helena Bonham Carter and so many more the list is huge

I was a huge fan of Miami Vice back in the day - watched every new episode as it aired. Not sure I’d rate it as my favourite TV show ever, but it’s up there.

As for the one reference above, there’s Dark Side of the Moon, and then there’s everything else. Nothing comes close. If that album was released today, it would still be considered ahead of its time….

The entire series is on Peacock and I started watching a few episodes of the first season. It's fun and they do keep the original music intact, unlike Hunter, which is also on Peacock. I enjoy Hunter way more than Miami Vice, though.

I have a Peacock Sub and I'm not seeing it.
Are you in a region other than the US?

Oh wow, looks like it's no longer there. I checked Just Watch and they say it's on "NBC" but when you click the icon it says that the episodes are no longer. I assume this was pulled recently.

I was like halfway into season 1, too.
