Hmmm, I read the review here on blu-ray.com and here are the final words about the My Soul To Take (2D version):

Quote:
My Soul to Take is awful. Unbelievably awful. If you'll excuse the lame play on words, it's as soulless as they come. I'd go on, but I think my "worst film of 2010" disclaimer says it all. Fortunately for Craven, its Blu-ray release isn't half bad. While the director's commentary and the film's supplemental package isn't going to entrance anyone, Universal's video transfer and DTS-HD Master Audio track are strong enough to make My Soul to Take easier to swallow, even if the flick still leaves an ungodly aftertaste. Rent it if you must. Just don't say I didn't warn you.
The 3D HDX file is on Vudu for rent only: $4.99

For that price, if I am ever DESPERATE to see a 3D movie and there's nothing else to watch, I might give it a shot... just so I can say I saw My Soul To Take 3D.

Saw it on Vudu in 3D about a year ago...don't think it as bad as all that! Wow!

Still, I'd like to own it as a 3D completest, wish there was an option to buy it cheaply...

I am not a big fan of this movie, but I am really into 3D and support home video 3D Blu-Ray releases of all 3D films. I am excited that this film got a 3D blu ray release. Maybe Astro-Boy, Ant Bully, Drag Me To Hell and the rest of this 3D revival will see 3D blu releases as well. Of course, I really want 3D blus of the entire slate of 1950s 3D movies. I would say I am stunned that they haven't been released, but I'd be lying. I am surprised this revival has lasted this long. 3D is normally hot for a couple of years, then you can buy disks and equipment for pennies on the dollar.

Just thought I'd provide some further information about this title.

Whilst the subs are forced, if you have an Oppo Blu-ray player you can move the subs out of the picture. As it is 2.35:1 you can move them to the black border then blow the picture up to fill the screen. I have a Philips 21:9 screen so the setting is ideal for that.

Awesome. I didn't even know this was available, and since I have an Oppo as well, I'll give it a try. I *love* hard-to-find 3D discs, even if they're not that great.

Thanks for the bump!

Interesting this thread recently popped back up. I included this in an order from Amazon.fr over the weekend. Didn't know it had forced subs, but I have AnyDVD and CloneBD so I'll run it through those to strip out the subs before I watch it.

I'm toying with the idea of this one. Is it worth it?

Finally watched this one.

The beginning of the movie was very aggressive and quite good. The surround sound field was really active and enjoyable. Unfortunately after the start the movie gets a bit boring.

The 3D conversion was surprisingly good considering the movie was released in 2010. Many scenes had decent depth and handful of layers. The few pop out effects there are could have been more powerful. On positive note I didn't notice any bad conversion errors.

I watched this at the weekend, taking advantage of my player's ability to move the forced subtitles all the way down off the picture, so I only saw them when the lines doubled up.

I was pleasantly surprised by the 3D, for an early conversion it did very well with only a few iffy moments where someone's head had that embossed Clash Of The Titans look. Depth was decent, with interior scenes and scenes in the woods getting some real atmosphere that just isn't there in 2D. Floating mist in 3D - love it.

I do have the open-matte UK version but it's safe to say I won't be watching that again, the 3D version blows it out of the water. The film is an absolute mess of course (this was my third time watching it) but is transformed into something quite watchable by the 3D. What a shame it never got a 3D Blu-ray release outside France, and what a shame the French distributors had to ruin the original language version with forced subtitles - just like region coding they are something no consumer EVER wants. Unless they are some kind of pirate and just want everything burned together so they can watch on their Playstation...

As is MORTAL ENGINES 3D for those who never imported it. HBO is the only American 3D presentation for this movie.

Have HBO demand and at times they offer 3D moves not available on Blu-ray like Ferdinand or limited release like My Soul to Take which I watched for a while but stopped since don't care for slasher movies.

Looks like this is available for purchase on vudu…currently on sale for $9.99…I could have sworn this used to be rent only on vudu.

It took me a while, but I finally found a copy of this sucker. You guys were spot on. The 3D was excellent for a conversion done in the early days. For some reason, the violence in this movie made me queasy, but the 3D got me through!

If you guys can find a copy for a reasonable price, it's worth adding to your collection.
