I collect arcade PCB's and cabinets. I have only 1 cabinet at the moment though. An Atomiswave SD. Currently has Galaga 88 inside it.

there's a lot of interesting personalities on here. a lot of movie/technology collectors. does anybody here collect anything else? I used to collect pez dispensors (i still have about 400 of them in boxes). I still buy some interesting ones every now and then, but not so much anymore. I have lots of cds, LPs, and 45s but they're all in use so not collectables really. I also have a variety of vintage cameras I still use.
If in use or value less are criteria to eliminate things as collections, then I never collected anything. But if amassing stuff for the fun of it, then as a kid I used to collect stamps and coins for a little while (more about seeing stuff from around the world), more recently I used to collect deck of cards and still collect a bit shot glasses.

I have a Superman arcade game from the 80's . . . it's the one made by Taito. Typical sidescroller, two player, one is Superman, the other is Superman in a red costume. Punch people, fly around, repeat. I'm a big Superman fan, so I had to have it. Got it for only 100 bucks.

By the by . . . I need a new screen for it, when I got it it had a decent amount of burn in. What's the best way/where do you get new screens for these things? Is it usually a DIY or are there places that service them?

contact a local coin operator (juke boxes, pool tables, megatouch's in bars) and see if one of their techs is interested in some side work. i work for one here in columbus, and we get home calls all the time. a new 19" monitor for that one should run you anywhere from 100.00 to 300.00 depending on new or used.

Do they still use the curved screens, or do they have flat ones now? Not flat LCD, but the flat screen CRT. Thanks, BTW.

Over 4000 cds. Over 3000 dvds. I'm sure one day I'll have a similar number of BDs.

If your in the USA, the most common brand of arcade monitor is wells gardner. Just google their website.

Brand new, your looking at a chunk of change though, most monitors are in the $400-$800 range, but usually American arcade monitors are on the small side.

Europe use mostly Hantarex monitors, Japan use Hitachi/Toshiba/Naneo.

Hope this helps.

I collect penguins. Just spent 80$ on some swarovski penguins the other day. They're like an inch high gah, but they were penguins. I've got numerous stuffed ones, glass ones, even got a glass one they made in front of me in Austin.

Try http://groups.google.com/group/rec.g...e/topics?hl=en. Put "WTB Arcade monitor" and your location and you'll get a few responses. You could also sell your old monitor there, someone's in need of a chassis for that brand of monitor. Don't know where your located but here in Florida they have auctions every few months and you can sometimes pick them up for $20-30.

Since my last motorcycle crash I collect motorcycle helmets. I currently have 15 helmets all in good working order and the couple from crashes that are not usable anymore.
I have a collection of about 300 license plates.
I have a small collection of autograpghed pics, with Adam West, Johnny Unitas and Earnest Borgnine being my favorite ones
