Hate to revive a dead thread, but I just saw that Arthaus have released a new 3-pack in Germany last week with Down by Law, Night on Earth and Dead Man.

However I seem to remember Dead Man having some non-English dialogue in a scene with the Native American characters - am I right to believe this isn't English-subtitled in the German release? Or am I just misremembering the scene?

What's bad about reviving an old thread if someone wants to discuss it? Should one open a new one so that a forum has multiple threads about the same topic? IMO one SHOULD always revive the existing one. Also thank you for bringing me to the attention of this set.

It is not English friendly, no.

The films that are in English are in English. But any parts that have foreign languages do NOT have English subs.

I have the set to have all the films together, and it's overall a very nice set.

But a couple of titles I had to re-buy, like "Night on Earth" and "Mystery Train", because they have large segments in other languages.

I recently watched "Ghost Dog", and while it's mostly in English, it has bits where the guy's best friend is French and going on and on in French. He doesn't understand him, either, LOL, so it doesn't take away from the film that much.

But, no, there are no English subs in this set, anywhere.

Also, don't foget that some of the films are not from the most recent restorations... at least, Ghost Dog and Dead Man for sure.
