As opposed to what version? To my knowledge, there's only one cut of the film.

Month late, but I got a used copy of Kino's release of this (based on a UK source - complete with British censor board at the start - hence the title The Scar). When I got to the cleaning lady scene I was ready for it to make sure it was uncut. It is. The scene plays out in full.

Probably this film could use a little more restoration work, maybe similar to how Film Noir Foundation did with Too Late For Tears (they had to use a foreign print for parts of it) to restore it as Hollow Triumph. A few scenes had film damage but overall not bad.

Also thought the film was good, as I love 'weird' film noirs.

I thought the restoration was solid. Unfortunately, Kino's encode leaves a bit to be desired, as I noticed some bad macro blocking and weird artifacts during some of the darker shots. Can't complain too much though as no one else has released this gem.

Well, I mean so we have the proper domestic title instead of the Brit version. I guess all the prints of Hollow Triumph must not be in good shape, because of all its prior releases (VHS) it looked bad (but none used the British release as a source that I can remember). We did have that Film Detective release that is a much poorer print (missing the aforementioned cleaning lady scene).

For the most part it was fine, but there were a few missing frames and a couple instances where it appears there were holes in certain frames (cigarette burns?), mostly later in the film.
