Creatively, the 3D was more on the subtle side with the most obvious effects arriving during the 10 plagues. There was no hesitation about breaking the screen barrier though, and a few of the quick POV shots during the chariot chases had my jaw on the floor though.

I enjoyed the story and performances too. Their portrayal of God was a little strange, but I got over that and otherwise had few issues. It was fun to see them do a few things different from other movie portrayals.

Big recommendation from me for the visuals.

P.S. I am convinced The Walk will be fantastic. Awesome 3D trailer from Zemeckis!
Thanks for your point of view on the 3D BleedOrange.
And I agree, The Walk's 3D looks strong. That view from the top of the skyscraper was realistic. I hope he has some dreams of falling so we can see that in 3D too.

I also loved the movie. This is one instance in which I say screw the critics. Bale, Edgerton, Kingsley, Mendelsohn, Paul, Marķa Valverde (Moses' wife), Isaac Andrews (The kid who plays God), and even John Turturro were great. Beautiful visuals, impressive storytelling, and staying true and faithful to the Bible made me give it a 9 out of 10 and that is sort of a rarity for me. Oh btw I actually loved the port-rail of God as a child and thought it worked perfectly. Will say I didn't care for the 3D though, but then again I don't care for 3D anyway. My buddy decided it would be better that way lol practically made me sick . The 3D did look good though and you can tell it was probably filmed that way and wasn't just a post production thing

I was incredibly shocked and surprised when I learned this would be in 3d when I got the 3d trailer for it in front of my second viewing of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in HFR 3D! The 3d in The Walk trailer literally had my jaw in the floor. The 3d looked absolutely astounding, super strong, and gorgeous! I was already looking forward to The Walk, but now my hype just soared for the film!

Once your eyes get used to it with some practice, the 3D can be more enjoyable without any pain. A tip is to not try to focus on the 3D, and just let your eyes rest as they would with 2D. Or if you want, close one eye and you'll have a 2D film while wearing the 3D glasses for the 3D film.
But good to hear the 3D looked good to you even though you are not a fan of 3D to begin with. That's cool that you pointed that out. Thanks.

You are lucky. I saw Hobbit 3 3D, but they didn't show the Star Wars Trailer in 3D, or at all sadly. Hopefully they show the trailer for February's 3D films in theaters. Yeah, the Walk's 3D if off the edge.

I saw this a few days ago and it's one of my favourites from this year, definitely in my top ten. I pretty much loved everything about it, the 3D was amazing, the sets, production design, costumes were amongst the most stunning I've ever seen in a movie and the performances were great. I was hooked throughout. It did feel like quite a bit was cut out though, I sincerely hope we get an extended or director's cut.

Although reviews have been dreadful for this movie, my niece told me she enjoyed it at the theater. To each his own.

Regardless, I will get the 3D BD when it comes out. Thankfully, Fox is still releasing 3D BD.

Heard crappy reviews for the movie itself but the 3D trailer is out of the world. May be worth buying for 3D alone

Does anyone know if there will be any special packaging options for Exodus: Gods and Kings (3D BD)? I was hoping for either a steelbook or a digibook. If not in the US, perhaps in another country?

UPDATE: Never mind - I found a 3D BD steel book release for Exodus. Apparently, it's a HMV (UK) exclusive. Looks like the members of the steel book forum are organizing a group buy.

Details here

^^ at first I wasn't a fan of the steel book cover given the floating head image ... but then comparing it to the standard release 3D cover, the sb at least it looks a little less computer-generated (to me) than the standard release 3D

I love steelbooks. But for some unknown reason..the steelbook image (two post up) doesn't really do anything for me..which is odd for me,lol. I think I actually like the slip cover image better.

Oh by no means am I a fan of that sb image
I think they could have done something wayy way cooler but it seems to be worldwide artwork for it, as a couple different countries who are doing SB's for it have the same artwork

just like you couldn't get away from the cassette player GotG sb, this seems to be the go-to for this one too lol

I think it could have been wayyyy more cooler looking though
The 3D standard is >> compared to the regular 2D cover at least which is nice

Maybe if they had the brothers facing against each other in the top portion instead of just having Bale looking at something. I'll have to see the standard cover.

I heard great things about the 3D, so glad to hear you enjoyed it. I didn't get a chance to see Ridley Scott's Exodus 3D as it went out of the theaters faster than I expected.

Default New preorders...

So I was browsing the Exodus page here on the site and I noticed that Amazon is taking preorders for single-disc $59.99 and $49.99 versions? I thought that was a little weird...anyone have any info on these editions?
