Was it? I thought reviews were posted well before only 2 days out. It was at 100 before it ever opened (if you give RT credence).

They started to leak slowly like 2 days before but the remainder came on opening day.

Seeing this in Imax 3D on Saturday, should be fun although this year has already peaked with Mad Max Fury Road.

Seeing this tonight, apparently will be an IMAX 3D screening (yes!!!). I think the embargo won't be lifted until at least tomorrow since the email invite to the screening said I'm not allowed to review the film on social media (whereas some advanced screenings have given no such restrictions, and The Book Thief even said social media reviews were "encouraged").

Here's hoping the 3D is as strong as the trailer.

got my tix to see this in IMAX-Laser Thursday night - from the 3D trailers I've seen, this should look amazing; and the laser engagement retains the 7.1 soundmix as well

Dean Richards said on his radio show this past Sunday that the special effects are great. Overall he was very upbeat about JW.

I’m not saying the film is a masterpiece, neither am I saying that you should expect to be impressed, but take it for what it is. A summer movie. A movie whose sole aim is to entertain and to be the talk of the town. And I must say that it will be. It had a nostalgic element to it. It made me feel like a kid again. This isn’t the average Mall Cop that aims to attract the few still impressed by films like that. This is a classic girl-meets- boy-who’s- a dinosaur-handler film. Go see it. Preferably in IMAX 3D and take your kids, parents or friends. Because irrespective of your age, we all get somewhat excited when dinosaurs are on the loose!

Sounds good. For those who see it early, looking forward to your thoughts on the 3D and if it matches that of the strong 3D trailer.

The Movie is fun (saw it Monday night at a press screening- though they mix in audience members to give the press a sense of how they react to the movie). Certainly a bunch of problems in the script (thin characters, awkward dialogue, weak comic relief), but it's probably the most enjoyable of the JP sequels, tons of nostalgia for the first film, loved seeing a full working park, and there are some impressive set pieces.

The 3D is solid enough, but I wish they were a little more aggressive with it; one thing I really liked about Mad Max, which I saw on the same IMAX screen, was how strong they went with some 3D moments, obviously that big shot near the end but a couple other times as well (also as a comparison to summer blockbusters in general, it is not as good as Mad Max, but probably close to Age of Ultron). One thing I did like was they actually referenced 3D in this movie (the kid was introduced looking at dinosaur pictures through a viewmaster), and as common even if they played it conservative during the dialogue scenes, it was stronger in big action moments or establishing shots of the park.

Thanks for the heads up info XBS.

With trailers, they can have the conversion team just convert the trailer into all strong 3D, but separately work on the movie's conversion, and tone it down to save time and money...

So i am understanding you right the 3D is not as good as the trailer has shown and again its a movie with no pop outs ?

Yeah the 3D isn't quite as good as the trailer, still depth is solid, but sadly there are basically no pop-outs (a couple fire embers seem to come out a bit but that's it).

Also, Cinemablend's 3D rating system gave it 5/5 for beyond the window (I would have gone a bit lower cause they go somewhat conservative in dialogue scenes, but they are right about wide shots of the park having very impressive depth) but 2/5 for before the window (as it doesn't take any real advantage of pop-outs). And I think they are pretty close in this case, even though I've disagreed with a couple of their ratings before.

So the shot of the Big dino from the water jumping up is no pop out in the actual movie ugh why do a trailer Like that and not have the movie be like the trailer. That is just weird as hell. This is why 3D is not pulling so many people in anymore. If every movie would be Like TMNT or Hercules with Dwayne Johnson everybody would love 3D. Studios need to do 3D movies Like those and people will flock to see it in 3D

2PM Saturday, should be entertaining at least!

How are the action scenes in this? Some say Colin Trevorrow's lack of experience with big movies shows in the action set pieces. I hope this isn't the case.
