I blind bought Curtains and whilst I was slightly apprehensive, the film turned out to be pretty good. The only buyers remorse I have had is either blind buying some movies that I didn't like, or blind buys that I still have yet to watch and I'm not that confident about (although they could surprise me!). I've got a new rule now - no more blind buys!

Off the top of my head:

Thief (and I love so much of M. Mann's works too)
Blue is the Warmest Color
Superbad
Crank
The Croods
Despicable Me

I usually sell them online the same night I watched them. I know when a movie does not resonate with me.

Lords of Salem. No question. Blind buy for only $6. In general I like horror movies, and also enjoyed Rob Zombie's movies for the most part. This movie was absolutely one of the worst movies I've seen in my life. I kept hanging in there hoping it would get better, but it didn't. Waste of time and shelf space.

Only God Forgives - This film makes me uncofortable, not because of the subject matter, but because I was expecting so much from it after seeing Drive.

Getaway (2013)- The first film I have ever sold after viewing only 30 mins of it, never finish it. could not belive Warner's gave it a theatrical realese!

The Big Wedding and The Five Year Engagement. Two great casts, but two awful movies. I sold them off quickly.

That's interesting as I thought it was just as good as Drive, but they are two completely different films for sure.

I blind buy a bunch from them. How else would I get to know new stuff? To me that is very much part of the fun of actually buying discs..Also - Criterion titles can't be rented or streamed online here

+1 on OGF. Fingers well and truly burnt there. Sold it on quick after a second viewing made me switch off after 20 minutes in annoyance!

Anything is a loss, if it wasn't worth paying for! You could've use that $1.00 towards another good movie, or bought something else with it.

Thankfully I peaked at some reviews or I would've been in this boat with ya. Got it from the library and wanted my 90 minutes back. I least at like all his other stuff (haven't seen the animated one though), but this was a huge miss with some cool ideas that went nowhere.

I've bought and replaced enough movies to make sure I'm getting the best version possible on Blu. From VHS to widescreen VHS to DVD to Blu. I've gotten in the habit of reading reviews before spending money on something, but sometimes there's some movies where you see something cheap in a WalMart bin and pick it up regardless if it's a shitty transfer. I remember buying Terminator Salvation and only realized it was a rental copy with zero features after I finally got around to watching it.

I heard there's some smokin hot lesbian sex in Blue is the Warmest Color.

...still not worth it?

I'm thinking about picking up the steelbook blu-ray of Dawn of the Planet of The Apes after work today. Anyone here have strong opinions either way as to the quality of this movie?

Feels like a case of buyer's remorse waiting to happen. But I can't help myself.

...this is what I do.

As I was buying this: "I'll watch anything with Jessica Chastain"
After I turned it off 25 minutes in: "I'll try watching anything with Jessica Chastain"

That's not even real sex, it's simulated. They were acting! If anybody only wants to see a lesbian sex act, just rent a triple X girl on girl video. And that's only a fantasy!

Wizard of Oz (hated it as a kid, not sure why I thought it would change as an adult) or Romeo + Juliette (awful film).

I spent about $1100 in movies this Black Friday week. No remorse. But have felt it many times before and have ended up selling movies down the road. I finally have myself in a great financial state though. Felt amazing to build my collection back up.

The sex scenes are indeed pretty hot. But I think it's an excellent film overall. It's going to be divisive, though, as it's definitely not everyone's style. My biggest regret in buying it is that it's really a bare release.

I don't really regret any films I've bought though. Even if I rarely if ever go back and rematch something, that's OK. I like to have certain things, as a collector. I wouldn't have thousands of comics in longboxes in my basement if that weren't true.

Probably, if anything, I might sorta kinda regret having bought the complete X-Files on DVD back in the day. I've rarely gone back to it. But again, that's OK.
