I was just on Apple's trailer app and saw John Carter, which I think is coming out this summer. Needs to be added to the list.

Can't wait for Prometheus!

Update: JC will be in theaters March 9, and Madagascar 3 is being released June 8

Wasn't Jack The Giant Killer moved to a 2013 release?

So, are we JUST making a list of theatricals, or are we working in confirmed/semi-confirmed catalog B3D titles for '12--Like "Up" in May, "Jaws 3D" in August, and vague rumblings of Finding Nemo and (dare we hope) Dial M For Murder?

(Me, I use the Coming Soon page on 3D-BlurayRental.com as a reference; they get the announcements as soon as they're verified.)

I think Gravity, with George Clooney and Sandra Bullock.

Wow, thanks for the input, especially to BleedOrange11 I think I've gotten all the comments everyone made incorporated into the OP. The list is much longer now, it's starting to look like the predictions of an early demise for 3D technology were a little premature

Good question, the list right now is limited to movies that are scheduled for 2012 theatrical releases that will hopefully see 3DBD releases soon after. Since those are theatrical releases from years past then technically they don't fit in the list, but we might as well add another category since this is supposed to be a "look forward to" thread

^ According to the thread title, films like Jaws and Dial M would fit. I'm actually more interested in seeing a list of the older films.

Agreed, I added a category. Is Dial M confirmed or just a rumor? I can't seem to find anything solid on it.

I think it's still just a rumor. Amazon UK does have pre-orders without dates for 3D releases of Dial M for Murder and House of Wax.

Good list man! Jolly Good. Breathes some life into the 3D forum which can get stale from time to time.

My 9 y.o. son really loved the first one so I was looking forward to seeing the sequel in 3D glory with him at the theater, guess it was wishful thinking
That would've been a good one to make 3D. Oh well. 2D is still good.
Thanks for the list. There's a lot for 2012 in 3D.

I am sure I read on Den Of Geek that Jack the Giant Killer would miss 2012 now.

Static is native 3D with Sony’s spiff PMW-F3 camera.
http://www.beyondhollywood.com/evil-...ins-static-3d/

The Great Gatsby, Leatherface, Step Up 4 (dropped the "ever"), Universal Soldier: A New Dimension, Silent Hill: Revelations, Resident Evil: Retribution, Jack the Giant Killer, Prometheus, The Hobbit, and The Amazing Spider-Man are all being shot with Red Epic cameras.

StreetDance 2 is using Red One cameras.

Dredd and Piranha 3DD are using Paradise FX 3D cameras.

47 Ronin and Life of Pi are using Arri Alexa cameras.

Looks like the director for The Mortal Instruments fancies the Red Epics.
http://mortalinstrumentsinfernaldevi...-nyc-and-in-3d

Nurse 3-D was shot in 3D with cameras rented from 3DCameraCompany.

The Ghost Experiment is definitely native 3D.
http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/26903

The Return of Captain Nemo will shoot in 3D and entirely on a green screen soundstage.

I'm just assuming The Briar Lake Murders will be a 3D movie and shot in 3D since it's directed by David R. Ellis (The Final Destination, Shark Night). This is the only one in my list that isn't really confirmed yet.

I thought G.I. Joe: Retaliation was going to be in 3D too. Apparently, the director, Jon Chu (Justin Bieber: NSN, Step Up 3D) was interested in using 3D again but ultimately decided not to and didn't want to convert.

Also, Up is not a "3D makeover." It was in "Disney Digital 3D" in theaters in 2009.

Went and saw "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance" over the weekend. Pitiful movie. Lousy story, poor acting, mediocre 3D. My 9 y.o. loved it, that's the only good thing I can think of to say about it, LOL! I liked the first one fine, but they tried to make this one more like a comic book and it just didn't work in my opinion. Saw the trailer for John Carter and I'm very much looking forward to that one

I'm not quite sure what the categories mean, but I wouldn't put Jaws 3-D or Dial M for Murder in the "makeover" category. Both were filmed and released theatrically in 3-D.

Jaws 3-D was shot in over-under format, and Dial M was shot in Natural Vision with the same rig used on House of Wax and many other '50s 3-D titles.

Dial M had mostly 2-D playdates, but there are some documented 3-D screenings, including its premiere in 1954.

Oh was there a Jaws 3D that was a different movie from the 1975 Jaws movie? I thought that Jaws 3D was a modern 3D makeover of Jaws. These were anaglyph movies, right? Probably should make a new category for anaglyph films getting rereleased.

No Jaws 3-D was the third entry in the franchise (1983) and was presented theatrically in polarized 3-D.

Dial M was presented in polarized 3-D as well.
