Final Fantasy VII Remake - April 10, 2020

If you take them at their word that they lost the assets for Final Fantasy VII, then a remake would not be a guaranteed profit for S-E.

I mean, it would require a modern AAA budget to rebuild from the ground up, people would complain about even the slightest difference, and even the nostalgia factor might not sell enough to make the money back, much less make a profit.

It'd be a high-risk/little reward scenario. And companies rarely go for that.

All PS4 games are required to have trophies so yeah it will have trophies.

Well ya, but PSOne and PS2 classics don't have trophies. The PS3 version has no trophies. Is this considered a trophy game or a classic?

I'm guessing its getting a physical release so I would take it as a PS4 game IE it should have trophies.

Knowing Square though who knows if it will even get a physical release.

I just don't trust SE to do a HD upgrade for FFVII these days. It's probably better they just leave it alone and not screw it up. The FFX and KH upgrades were done well but I don't trust them upgrading a PS1 game to HD quality.

There is no PS3 version. This will have trophies like every other PS4 release

It might get a physical release but knowing Square it will most likely be a exclusive for their store.

The short answer is yes. The longer answer is that it's actually a port of the Steam PC port which is not exactly the same.

Note the downloadable re-release section which is what I'm assuming they'll use. Pretty sad that a fan had to fix the ****ing game in the first place.

that's the psone version, it's playable on the ps3

That's a PSOne Classic title. Its simply an emulated version of the PS1 original. The game was never ported to the PS3. Had it been, it would have been required to have trophies (assuming it was released post 2008)

Not every game is required to support trophies, even now.

A few indie games I can't think of the names of atm & I think one or more of the Koei Tecmo releases.

If you find them, then please update bc this is news to me. I haven't seen any PS4 game without a trophy list. To my knowledge that is a requirement and Sony hasn't changed it

There were a few indie games that were released buggy and thus didn't initially have trophies. Perhaps this is where the confusion is from?

Tecmo Koei has only released two games on the PS4 and both have trophies, so I don't know where that came from.

By initial, you mean the trophies were at least patched in?

I mean they were intended to be there from the start but the code on the game wasn't quite right to successfully add them to the list.

#KillAllZombies was like this, it took a patch to get the trophies functional.

I am not aware of any PS4 games without trophy support now, the ones which were broken have since been fixed.
