I just got Talladega Nights from Amazon.com brand new but I was worried that I might have received the wrong version.
The disk says "Not for Sale". It has extras and a PCM soundtrack but the writing has me concerned. |

That is the PG-13 version that came with the PS3, not the unrated version that was released individually.

It has two rings, BVDL written on those rings and the listed features for the retail version but for some reason it has "FOR PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY NOT FOR SALE" and "Playstation 3 Compatible" on the label side. This is a bit of a mystery. Perhaps Sony messed up the label on some of the retail version runs? |

Yeah, my version (which I bought at Circuit City) also says "Not for Sale" and it has all the extras.

So I checked the length and it's just a bit over two hours counting the credits and whatnot. So are you saying that I actually have the unrated version? It does say it has extras. So I have the proper disc just not the proper paper placed on the bluray itself? So I have the 50 not the 25?

I discovered this SAME problem I think in 2008 or '07 when I first got MY copy of TN's. I'll tell you what I was told then. The ORIGINAL pressing of this movie used the PROMOTIONAL disc label on BOTH the PG-13 & Unrated versions. If you have good eyes and not an old man like me......and find the DL on the rings......be assured it IS the UNRATED version.
The EASIEST way to tell, insert the disc, begin playing the movie, then pause or if you have (as most do) a DISPLAY feature on your player....check the RUNNING TIME of the movie. If it's 2:01:26, you HAVE the UNRATED version. A shorter running time, its the PG-13 version. From what I'm told (unless a 3rd party has done a ....switcheroo) the contents of the disc should match what is described on the case and insert. |

I actually never picked this up on Blu, but there is a copy of the PS3 promo disc that I'm always tempted to grab at an Antique mall over by my work for $3.
I never bought the retail Blu because I hate the Unrated version. How can something be called "Unrated and UNCUT" when it REMOVES material that was present in the theatrical version? I bought the Unrated DVD when it came out thinking it would just be a bit of added footage, but they actually removed my favorite scenes and replaced it with material I didn't even find funny. |

Looks like it's going to be a worldwide release based on the subs. And the run time adds up to the 2 cuts PG-13:108 UR:122
