Kino, what are you doing to me in 2015? I think I should just give them my bank account number and be done with it

More screencaps and a rave review. Looks like an easy Pre-order. Don't recall if I've ever seen the Prologue before. If it was on the Midnite Madness DVD, guess I did.

Anyone get theirs yet? If so, does it look as good in motion as it does in the screencaps? Mine is set to be delivered tomorrow ....

Default Corman Favorite

This has to be one of my favorite Corman films and all around Sci-Fi Classics. Just waiting for my Blu-Ray to arrive. Too Cool!

I just finished watching my Kino Lorber Blu-ray of X: The Man with the X-ray Eyes, including all of the extras and commentaries.

Everything about this disc presentation is awesome. X: The Man with the X-ray Eye has always been one of my favorite Roger Corman flicks and one of my favorite Ray Milland flicks, so I'm hugely pleased that the movie has been carried over so strongly to Blu-ray.

This is one of the great "Be careful what you wish for, because it might come true." films, and it's a horror masterpiece as such that delves slightly into Lovecraft territory.

The extras are a win, and I particularly enjoy the Tim Lucas commentary.

Well done, Kino Lorber, well done!

The Kino Lorber edition is already right here on my shelf, though. Mwahahahaha!

A wise man once said, "A Blu-ray on the shelf is better than two in Germany."
Or maybe not. Maybe the saying was something about birds. I dunno. You get my drift, though...

The official site review here of the Kino Lorber Blu-ray is spot-on with their four-star picture quality review. There's no need to feel short-changed if you opt for this release, because it's superb across the board.

It does look darker , The german has an much higher overall bit rate and 21gb on the bluray where the Kino only has 15gb (that is 6 extra gb ) That is a big difference. I do like Kino's artwork better .

What are the odds of you actually noticing it, though? As far as I've seen, no one's ever complained about compression errors on this release, so it's unlikely you'd notice the difference with the bitrate in practice. In a case like this I would think that unless you're watching on a very large screen and are also hyper-sensitive to even the slightest picture imperfection that you'd be better off with the Kino, especially if you're a person that cares about extras.

If the German one is cheaper and you don't care about extras, then yeah, might as well. I just kinda doubt you'd notice a difference in PQ. This isn't a Scream Vs Arrow thing where one is demonstrably worse in practice (and in captures).

I received my order of the Second Sight edition from Orbit DVD today. I'm glad Svengoolie decided to show this last month because it probably wouldn't have shown up on my radar if they hadn't. Heads up, they're showing The Raven (1963) tonight. In less than ten minutes my time. But anyways, even as an adult, I can see why the ending could scare a younger crowd because its still shocking to watch now.

Also, is anyone else having a hard time not giggling at a label called Second Sight releasing this of all labels? I feel like it was almost done on purpose given the title of the film.
