They still coulda put "ACADEMY AWARD WINNER" on the front in big letters, with the details below that or in the fine print on back -- much like Disney did during the Renaissance when they were winning Original Song & Original Score right and left.

Definitely. My main point was to clarify the "good" cover is a Walmart exclusive; the regular version is still that garbage cover. (Don't know yet if other retailers will have exclusives with better covers.)

Edit: OTOH, it's pretty clear from comparing that to the regular BD that the Walmart-exclusive AFI interview will be on a separate BD. Pretty good for the bonus content alone, not to mention the better cover and the donated DVDs.

Alas, a deeper search at Walmart reveals another typical Walmart twist: In addition to their exclusive they also list a BD/DHD-only edition with the same ugly cover; no mention of a BD/DVD/DHD version other than the exclusive. Nothing officially shortchanged in the description other than the exclusives (edit: and slip), but I certainly hope they're not gonna sell a rental disc without HD audio like Mockingjay Part 1...

LMAO

Which retailer does that top version belong to? That's clearly the better artwork.

I really like the WM slip, just kinda hope they remove the "Buy One Teach Many" tag line at the top, largely just b/c it wasn't in the movie.

That's the Walmart Exclusive.

Hey, if Abraham Lincoln can hunt vampires, surely, MLK can be an action hero.

Yeah, but you'll never see Matt Damon playing MLK.

From the original BD of The French Connection, that means William Friedkin must be directing (edit: or at least doing the color timing).

Review has been posted! I have to agree with the notes on the PQ. I saw this twice in theaters and both times I thought the projection must be at fault; the picture was washed out and sickly-looking. A little sad to hear that this carried over to the bluray. Still picking this up, though.

Review is up.

"A lead performance as good as most any to come before it."

Is it just mean or does that statement contradict itself?

3.5/5? They've got to stop letting Liebman review non-Christian titles...

Hhhmmm....

The Blu Ray looks EXACTLY like it did in theatres...and it is a 3.5?

So how do the ratings work again?

Or was this a movie the reviewer didn't see in public?

Pointed sarcasm aside...

This movie wasn't filmed to be all nice, bright and shiny.

I sort of agree with this...If the disc is totally faithful to the original intent, the score should be a little higher. I'm just wondering why the film has that certain drained look; I've never really seen it before.

RAH called it a perfect disc.

As it(and every other movie shot with that camera should be, by default...unless screwed with) was shot digitally.

It went straight DI to disc.

RAH no longer scores digitally shot movies...cause if they went "DI to disc"...by default it is perfect.

(We all know Sony did a change up. Are any of them digitally shot movies?)

There is a feature on the disc explaining the color choice. I wonder if the reviewer watched it.
