Lets hope they do get the full Cantonese track for Drunken Master it is easily available from the French DVD which i have. Drunken Master 2 as mentioned has been treated disgustingly by the distributor. I finally got a friend to make me a copy of the Blu ray release but with the original soundtrack and English subs, as if i wait for an official release of the movie in its original version then i will probably die first!

I managed to find a boot DVD with the bulk of the picture from the domestic DVD release, the final scene badly spliced in from the original horrendous HK DVD release that was in the wrong AR with a horribly remixed sewer-pipe-echo soundtrack, and the bulk of the audio in Cantonese mono (except for the final scene). Close, but still no cigar.
Agreed. As a kid I didn't know any better. As I grew up I started researching/realizing that North American releases of great classic martial arts flicks are cut for North American audiences most the time. More action, less story. Sadly though, martial arts flicks aren't really "hot" sellers and are more of a niche market. I miss the Dragon Dynasty company. A lot of their martial arts/asian action flicks were fairly good releases on DVD and Bluray. They had a few flawed releases (Jet Li's The Enforcer only having English Dub) and a few cut releases (Police Story 3 comes to mind) but overall they treated their releases quite well.

First Post!

I know people over at Twilight. I will see if I can give them some help on putting out definitive Blu-ray releases of both films.

The original Canto mono dub is what people most want, I suppose?

That's what I want. And not like the Sony DVD release, where a good bit of the original language track is missing. We know it's out there because the French DVD release has the complete original audio track.

If you're going for a definitive version, you'll want to include both English dubs. I don't recall if the original English dub was ever made available on DVD or not.

Both Eng dubbs for both Drunken master and Snake in the eagle's shadow. Also a new commentary for both films.

I imagine this might not be possible, but outside of fixing the the Cantonese dub I would also like to see the original Cantonese credits. Sony's master on the JP disc uses English credits for some reason. A branched option for both would be great.

As I have posted earlier in the thread DRUNKEN MASTER needs some
serious TLC!!

The main things are to fix the ORIGINAL MONO Cantonese audio and provide
a good translation for English subtitles not the dubtitles on the SONY DVD.

Sony most likely thinks the original Cantonese mono audio no longer exists but that is not true!

You can find the complete original Cantonese audio on the French label (HKVIDEO) box set.

Here is the link to the box set on Amazon France.

http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B000...ilpage_o00_s00

The only other major thing to provide is the ORIGINAL English dub from 1978
no one has used this dub on a quality release!!

Do these 3 things and you will have a QUALITY RELEASE that will sell 5000 copies easy!!

Just so that everyone knows, I have passed on your requests, and also suggested that TT release the Last Dragon for its 30th anniversary. If you have any other requests, please pass them on

To be honest if they included:
1) original language
2) original English dubs
3) HD picture quality (Not upscales)
4) all uncut (not international cut versions)

Then I would re-buy all my Jackie Chan movies, any extras like deleted scenes or interviews would be an added bonus.

Start from Snake in the eagles shadow and go all the way to Accidental Spy that would do me (as long as they are region free)

Once things really get going, I will go over some of the materials with them to make sure that the soundtracks are in order. Preliminary comments about the remastering of Drunken Master are very positive. I suggested some people for potential audio commentaries. I hope it all goes well.
