So how many pop outs would you say it has ? I am a little confused because i read here that some said there was many pop outs or did i read that wrong here and even Avengers 1 has some pretty cool pop outs. So is the 3D worse than the first one ?

Smart man, the 3D was missing in action. Also the theater I saw this at had a dark picture. I left to complain about it and the manager came back to the theater with me. While we stood there and watched the screen, another person came up and complained about it also. The manager said that they were sent a bad print. The other person accepted that and left. That didn't sound right to me though. So you get a bad print but still take folks money anyway. I wanted to persue it further afterwards but the manager was not around. I'm going to send an e-mail complaint to AMC's home office.

I would have asked for a refund but my wife was into the movie so I let it go.

Sorry to hear about that JBug.

Having to get up to let the projectionist know the film is messed up is a distraction, especially right after the movie first starts and it's already 10 minutes in, thinking "Are they aware and are they trying to fix it? Is someone else going to tell them? Or should I?" Usually I'll just get up and tell them after 3 minutes of a problem, though that is more rare these days depending on a reliable cinema.

I flinched back only about twice, though there are some pop outs, just not in your face for more than a split second for weapon pop outs. Usually related to Cap's shield.

My theater also showed the Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron 3D movie looking like the projector-light was in economy mode. i.e. dark picture.

Isn't this movie digitally sent to theaters? How can they be sent a bad print?

I think I could count the amount of pop outs on one hand.

To me the 3D was awesome when it needed to be but wasn't consistent thru out the whole movie. It was certainly better than the last Avengers but at times you could tell it was dialed back and felt more like 2D.

I would say none. I can't recall any significant instances of picture elements coming far forward into the viewing area. As others have said, the 3D is very well defined, with many distinct layers of depth, but no popouts.

I generally agree with the frustration that's been expressed lately on these 3D forums. The medium isn't being used to its potential, because filmmakers are afraid of being seen as gimmicky. Go deep, or go home! They should make 3D movies like they mean it. There has to be something to make it significantly distinct from 2D. This subtle stuff doesn't cut it.

Just watched Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron today and I have to agree the movie was really dark. The 3d was definitely medium to high medium. You would think with such a high profile movie that the 3d would be epic. Very confusing....and I don't recall any pop outs at all. Consistency amoung presentations would be nice...Lol!

Interesting, because my Imax 3D showing was probably the brightest and best aligned I've ever seen. It was dead on and pin sharp, so much so that I noticed a small tear in one part of the screen, and the very slight vertical banding that was an artifact of the screen material. Flipping the glasses up and down, I noticed that the brightness loss from the glasses was 10-15% at the most.

The presentation in our theater also had a darker picture, that was one thing my brother and I said after the movie, it didn't look great. The 3D was ok, no really wow moments but it was solid. We thought maybe it was just the projector in our theater but maybe they sent out some bad prints since this happened in more than one place. I didn't like this as much as the first one or the last Captain America but I thought it was pretty good. I look forward to watching it at home and getting a brighter picture.

I got to see the new Star Wars trailer in 3D, that was great.

Saw this in Imax 3d on my bday and I thought the 3d was fantastic! High medium to strong 3d in just about every scene and the depth really worked well with the tracking shit in the beginning, anything with flight, and any other big effects shots. I wished there had been more popouts, but I was still incredibly happy with the 3d conversion and it really enhanced the movie for me and made me more immersed in it. And the 3d was very clean for a 3d conversion, it really shows how far the process has come.

I also thought the movie was fantastic and I personally think it's one of the best sequels I've seen in a long time. Whedon did an amazing job with the action, special effects, and balancing the huge roster of characters and plot, without losing control of the whole enterprise. I also think it's a better and emotionally deeper movie than the first and ultron was a fantastic villain with a wicked funny and menacing performance by James Spader. The CG for his character and for the whole film was really top notch and detailed.

We'll be seeing this as many times as I can in Imax 3d!!!!

I would say to wait for Best Buy to announce something. Thor, Winter Soldier and Guardians all got the 3D steenbok release. I don't see that ending soon because they seem to sell pretty fast.

Also my print was dark and the focus wasn't too consistent. I tend to think the bulb was late in hours. I can't see how the print would be bad because Disney i'm pretty sure still send their prints via currier on a HDD to load onto the server. Most other companies have moved onto using the satellite downloads. The prints as of 2 years ago (before i left the theatre as a projectionist) always came with special instructions and sometimes a deck of collector cards/postcard art to boot (Took them from the Toy Story 3 print) Would unlock the prints a day or 2 early to make sure the picture/sound would be at their best for the guests.

I saw it in IMAX 3-D yesterday. The 3-D strength is better than Captain America - The Winter Soldier was last year. But it didn't exactly wow me either. To me, the benchmark for 3-D conversions in this category is Pacific Rim from two years ago. Avengers 2 isn't quite there yet.

Thinking about pre-ordering this because Day One 3D retail prices seem to have skewed higher this year.

It used to be $2-3 more for 3D on new releases, but with Guardians it was more like $5-6.

It's almost like retailers know that with fewer big 3D releases, they can charge more and people will still pay.

But is it normal to have Amazon listing this for $40? BB shows only $25.

Pacific Rim was very nice 3D. But I actually think one of the best 3D releases was Hercules with The Rock and TMNT. Some awesome 3D with both pop outs galore and depth the way every 3D movie should showcase 3D

Amazon will more than likely drop. Spongebob 3D was $45 or something when it was first announced, but it's now $24.95.

I would be beyond shocked if this one was higher than $19.99 on release week.

Both Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy were down to about $20 from Amazon on release date for their 3D copies. I mean, that could change because we've seen some companies charge more for their Blu-Ray releases this year, but the last Disney preorders I made (and received) from Amazon were still at pretty good prices. (101 Dalmatians and Into The Woods)

There's no official release date for the home video release yet (I'd venture to guess they'll release it in September alongside Agents of SHIELD Season 2 as that show contains an episode leading into Age of Ultron, just as it had tie-in episodes with Winter Soldier last year, and Season 1 was released alongside that movie), so don't sweat the price quite yet.

Well, I did get two free return tickets and AMC gets a + for their quick response (phone call).
