Yeah, I was surprised making the comparison, though the DVD seems to shift in quality, so sometimes it looks better (albeit interlaced, possibly misframed and still worse than the blu). Everyone knows about the opening scene of course, but I think Shriek Show got a bunch of other scenes from lower quality sources as well... I have more comparison shots and details here. But yeah, the blu was more of an upgrade than I was expecting, that's for sure.
Plus it wound up having more extras than they'd announced, which was another very cool surprise. |

Definatly watch the original first although Zombie Flesh Eaters 2 is a completely different movie compared to the original. I like them both but for different reasons but the 1979 movie is superior.

Holy smokes! I don't follow 88 Films releases and had no idea that the magnificent schlock fest Zombie 3 had been released on Blu!
Yes it is a horrible film but I really like it, the Shriek Show disc was one of my favorites. Thanks for the screen grabs wernski, I never could have imagined such an improvement was possible! Now im a little torn, the slip and extra disc is nice on the 88 store exclusive...buuuut amazon UK has the standard edition for 8.99, hard to justify more than double the price for a slip and DVD. |

I received mine this week (regular version) and I was surprised I enjoyed it more on this viewing than on previous occasions. That's probably mostly down to the transfer as the DVD looked bad. Nice extras and that cover art remains ever so cool (the zombie face clearly ripped off from ANOES 3 Dream Warriors poster).
