Yes, but those are owned by Warner.

How's the transfer on Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol in that set by the way? Is it the same transfer from 5 years ago or is a worn-out transfer used on the first DVD releases?

Is it possible to share pics of the specials exclusively in that set because I like to see what the transfers look like.

I forgot that Warner owns those. That's too bad. I took a quick look at the new discs. Firstly, it includes only 2 discs. Inside the box is 2 eco-cases, each holding 1 disc. The front cover art for each case is the same as the box art (pretty lazy - at least the back art and disc art show what each disc holds).

When you put in disc 1, you are immediately informed to go to a website to read more about the play-along feature on the disc, whatever that is. You're then taken to a menu where you can select from Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, The Little Drummer Boy, or Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol. If you select The Little Drummer Boy or Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol, they play immediately, with no options available and no menus. At the end of the feature it returns to the main selection menu. If you select Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, it takes you to a new menu, which I'm assuming is the same menu as if you had the standalone anniversary disc. From that menu, you can select chapters for Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, special features, etc.

The same happens with disc 2. Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph both have their own menu if you select them from the disc selection menu, just like the standalone disc, but if you select Frosty Returns or Cricket on the Hearth, they play immediately with no options.

I haven't done a direct comparison yet between the version of Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol in this set and the standalone version, but I'm thinking the transfers might be the same, as this transfer looks excellent, just like the standalone one from several years ago. There are no bonus features in this set though for Mr. Magoos' Christmas Carol. The standalone release I own has some pretty nice extras, and even came with a commemorative booklet.

So it's a weird set - instead of just including the individual anniversary discs, it merges the anniversary discs with other specials, giving the anniversary editions their own menu, and the other specials playing directly like a special feature. Yet you lose all the special features from the original release of Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol.

Rudolph is indeed the new re-colored version with Yukon's jacket being blue now. Santa Claus is Comin' to Town needs a remaster. It doesn't look bad, but it's certainly a bit rougher than Rudolph. The Little Drummer Boy is very rough-looking too - easily the worst-looking of the set. it does seem to have more detail than the old DVD, but it still looks pretty awful.

How many Disks in the set?
Are Movies/Specials doubled up on a Disk?
Do you happen to have any images of the set?

I haven't opened it up yet, but comparing the extras listed on the back of the box to the extras for the individual releases, it does include the 45th Anniversary edition of "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town", the 45th Anniversary edition of "Frosty, the Snowman", the new remaster of Frosty Returns, and the 50th Anniversary edition of "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer". I already own Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol so that doesn't matter to me. I don't expect much from "The Little Drummer Boy" in terms of image quality. I've never seen Cricket on the Hearth.

It's a shame they didn't include Year Without a Santa Claus and 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, since they are both on blu-ray and would be a nice way to get them all together. Also, they should have done a lot better with Rudolph - it should have been remastered properly, complete, with fixed audio, and they should have included extras collector's would actually want - not these stupid "games". Where are the old vintage adverts that aired with Rudolph? Also, how many more times are they going to re-release these titles before we get the lesser-known titles on blu-ray (Pinocchio's Chistmas, Christmas in July, Jack Frost, Life and Adventures of Santa Claus, Christmas Gold)?

I wouldn't have grabbed this except for $15 I couldn't pass it by since I do love these specials.
So is this the 2010 blu ray release or the new 2015 release with the other three Christmas specials included?

Sorry, I'm currently unable to take pictures. My tablet is the only thing I own right now that takes pictures and it's lousy - the images are always out of focus and too dark to see anything.

Lol, I posted all of these answers on this very page, 7 posts up, to help everyone out, and it's like people don't even see it. I gave a thorough breakdown of what specials are on each disc.

No DVDs. 2 blu-rays. It was $15 last weekend at Target for me.

If you get these:

Instead of this:

Are the only items missing:
The Little Drummer Boy and
Mr. Magoo?

You would also lose Cricket on the Hearth, since that's only available in the box set. If you buy Mr. Magoo separate, you will get a nicer package for Mr. Magoo with some extras.

The wrong audio track was used, missing sound effects (animals in dramatic parts) and the end narration splits between Paul Frees and Greer Garson. Only Laserdisc and VHS had the correct soundtrack. Amazon reviews go into more detail.

I believe the original elements are lost. They had to use a 16mm print.

If you notice the link for Rudolph, it's the Wal-Mart exclusive version. Are you saying that that is the version in the box set?

Is there a definitive list of all the Rankin/Bass releases on Bluray? And what's missing from each release and what not?

I have no idea if the Wal-mart exclusive edition is different form the one on Target/Amazon. All I know is the feature and extras for Rudolph on the new anniversary box set is the 50th anniversary edition of Rudolph, and disc 2 even includes a full separate menu layout for both Rudolph and Frosty. When you select Rudolph, it opens a brand new full menu, just like if you put in the standalone release of Rudolph. The same if you select Frosty, or Santa Claus is Comin' to Town on disc 1. They all have their own sub-menu for extras also, just like the standalone releases. So I'm assuming the full content of the Rudolph and Frosty discs are on the anniversary set.

On the other hand, if you select Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol, you don't get a menu, just the feature itself, so you lose all the extras that you get on the standalone release.
