I watch a small selection of current movies every year, but I tend to watch the ones I grew up with more often. Some movies reach such a high pedestal among the public, that you're almost deemed strange if you haven't seen them. One example is The Wizard of Oz, first released an entire generation before I was born. The last main actor from that movie to pass away was "Ray "The Scarecrow" Bolger, and I was six at the time.

I've certainly gotten out of my comfort zone with films lately. I'm on a 1930's kick currently. I've seen maybe 2 or 3 movies from the 30's in my entire life, and just in the past week I've watched 4 movies from the 30's.

Granted, I've watched what available to me on streaming (yes I know, the dreaded streaming). But I simply don't have the budget (or space) to buy all the movies that I plan on consuming. But streaming is the only way I've been allowed to escape my comfort zone of movies.

But the strangest thing is now I'm starting to develop admiration, and dare I even say becoming a "fan" of movie stars from the 1930's who are long dead. Movie stars I didn't even know existed 2 weeks ago.

It's funny because I rarely become a "fan" of modern day celebrities, because I know that they're horrible people. The these old-timey stars, are almost like mythical beings. It's almost like they don't exist. So they can do no wrong. But they did exist. And they did do wrong when they were alive. We just don't know about it, because times were different back then. So these old celebs, who could've been the absolute worst people on Earth, get to live on, in legendary status, and we will never hear about any bad thing they ever did, because they're dead, and everyone who knew them is dead.

Most (not all) new movies seem familiar, like I've seen them before. This is because I've been watching movies for a very long time, so everything "new" reminds me of something old. History always repeats itself. It's unavoidable.
