I can't wait for people to blame the weather when Star Wars underperforms opening weekend

Yeah there is zero chance star wars makes anything over 150 ow but it will have crazy legs and will gross more than JW in the long run

I thought MM:Fury Road was better than JW (which I felt was good, but not great), so the bar isn't even set that high film-wise for Star Wars to have the highest opening weekend for the calendar year.

we had a Star Wars marathon run at our local cinema celebrating May The 4th last year. Prequels did well, OT sold out, we had costumes and everything. We know the age of these movies and to see them still draw attention like this event?. I think SW:TFA will surprise.

perosnally that is

I think it's a toss between Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will probably go and beat it this year (annoyingly) but I'd rather it didn't because I prefer the Jurassic Park franchise.

I voted for Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them because:

1. It's a prequel to Harry Potter.

2. JK Rowling has written the screenplay.

3. Eddie Redmayne is in it.

Not excited for the Harry Potter spin-off either and I loved the first 8 films quite a bit.

I'm intrigued by it because of its originality in terms of the Harry Potter mythos. JK Rowling could have taken the obvious option for a prequel with the Marauders but instead she's opted to tell Newt Salamander's story, which seems a bit left field to me. But I can't see it being as good as the other eight Harry Potter movies because to me they were perfect adaptations of the books.

I think The Force Awakens will beat JW by a good 10 mil in it's opening weekend. It's going to be extremely hard to even get in somewhere to see it that first weekend.

It will be an unprecedented record smashing success in December if it gets $150MM domestic. I wish gambling were legal and I could drop large amounts of money somewhere that The Force Awakens won't get within $40MM of JW's domestic opening weekend.
