Is Arnie (and Sly for that matter) still shooting scenes for Ex 4? or was that a rumor?

Emmett/Furla/Oasis & Darren Aronofsky Ready Arnold Schwarzenegger Revenge Drama ‘478’

Quote:
Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films has stepped up to finance and produce with Protozoa Pictures 478, the drama that Arnold Schwarzenegger will star in and Elliott Lester will direct from a script by Javier Guillon. The film is produced by Protozoa’s Darren Aronofsky, Scott Franklin and Eric Watson, EFOF CEOs Randall Emmett and George Furla, and Peter Dealbert.

The Highland Film Group is handling international sales and this is expected to be a hot title on the opening day of AFM. Lionsgate Premiere will release the film domestically as part of the ongoing multi‐picture distribution deal with EFOF.

Schwarzenegger has eyed the project seriously for months, and the script drew fans for its dark storyline and characters. In 478, Schwarzenegger plays a man whose wife and child die in a plane crash. The tragedy was caused by an air traffic controller’s screw-up. The air traffic controller is vilified for his mistake and placed into protective custody. Schwarzenegger’s character cannot let it go, and is determined to seek vengeance. It’s more sophisticated than an average revenge film, and gives Schwarzenegger a chance to show the chops he displayed on Maggie.

Guillon is the Spanish writer best known for the Denis Villenueve-directed Enemy, an adaptation of the Jose Saramago classic novel The Double that Jake Gyllenhaal starred in. Guillon also scripted the Goya-nominated script Invader. Lester directed the Emmy-nominated HBO film Nightingale with David Oyelowo.

The film is set for a mid-December production stars in Ohio.

The executive producers include Ari Handel and Josh Stern of Protozoa Pictures, Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb of Lionsgate. Wayne Marc Godfrey and Robert Jones of The Fyzz Facility are co-financing and will also serve as executive producers.

Schwarzenegger last starred in Terminator Genysis, an offshore hit with $450 million global gross.

Aronofsky, Franklin, Schwarzenegger and Guillon are represented by CAA and Schwarzenegger is also represented by attorneys Jake Bloom and Patrick Knapp. Lester is repped by WME and Plattform and Emmett by WME. EFO is in post-production on the Martin Scorsese-directed Silence and just extended a partnership with Lionsgate Premiere for another five pictures. Its Robert De Niro thriller Heist and Bruce Willis-starrer Extraction premiere later this month and an adaptation of David Mamet’s Speed The Plow and Gotti with John Travolta are set for 2016 production starts.

I hope it turns out better than the script, I found it to be too slow.

AFM: Darren Aronofsky, Arnold Schwarzenegger's '478' Sells Around the World (Exclusive)

Quote:
The film sees Schwarzenegger seeking revenge after his wife and daughter are killed in a tragic mid-air collision.

The unusual pairing of Darren Aronofsky and Arnold Schwarzenegger proved too potent for foreign buyers to ignore at this year’s American Film Market.

Their newly announced revenge-thriller, 478, has closed a raft of major territory deals for the Highland Film Group, which is is handling international sales. Aronofsky is producing 478 via his Protozoa Pictures alongside Randall Emmet and George Furla of Emmet/Furla/Oasis.

Since stepping down as governor of California, Schwarzenegger has had trouble reviving his acting career, with movies including Escape Plan and Maggie disappointing both in North America and overseas.

Still, 478 sparked strong interest at AFM. "We had very healthy responses from our buyers who reacted very quickly and aggressively to the project at the start of the market. With Darren Aronofsky on board it was inevitable that the film was going to draw in great interest — and we're delighted to see such a positive reaction at this early stage," said Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier of Highland.

The film, now in pre-production, will see Schwarzenegger play a man whose wife and daughter are killed in a tragic mid-air collision. His life takes an unexpected turn when he seeks revenge on the person responsible. Elliott Lester will direct from a script by Javier Gullon.

Among the territory deals secured for 478 are France (Metropolitan), Italy (Leone), Spain (Inopia), CIS (Luxor), Australia and New Zealand (Defiant), Indonesia (Prima), Vietnam (Skyline), Indonesia (Prima) and the Philippines (Viva).

Additional pacts include Poland (Polsat Group), Scandinavia (Scanbox), Middle East, Greece, India and Turkey (Italia), Ex-Yugoslavia (Padora), Hungary (RTL), CIS (Luxor).

Since founding Highland in 2010, Fraser and Perrier have become known for handling male-driven action fare. Also at AFM, they continued selling Gotti, starring John Travolta as infamous mob boss Jon Gotti, and Braven, starring upcoming Aquaman lead man Jason Momoa as a husband who defends his family from dangerous drug runners. Highland is also handling February, a Hitchcockian thriller set a girls boarding school that stars Emma Roberts and Lauren Holly.

Arnold Brings His Next Film to Columbus

Quote:
Film Columbus and its president, John Daugherty, can thank a friend for the next major Hollywood film to be shot in Columbus.

The plane crash drama 478 will begin shooting locally by mid-December, thanks in large part to its star’s fondness for Columbus.

“They contacted me a few weeks ago, and it was pretty much all Arnold,” says Daugherty of the Schwarzenegger vehicle. “The production team were filming in Cincinnati, a film called Marauders with Bruce Willis, and they were getting ready to wrap that and start this film. Schwarzenegger said, ‘Let’s go to Columbus and film it.’”

Daugherty and Film Columbus are thrilled.

“It’s great for the city,” he says. “It’s great that Arnold wanted to come.”

Following Schwarzenegger’s dramatic turn in last year’s zombie drama Maggie, 478 will showcase more than the Austrian’s massive physique and endlessly quotable one liners.

“It’s a drama,” confirms Daugherty. “It’s not a hard core action film, which is kind of funny. Arnold is going to try the drama route. It’s based on a true story about a plane crash, and Arnold’s character’s family is killed in the crash. It’s about how he tried to find out what happened. It’s really cool the way it’s being set up. The first half of the film is from Arnold’s perspective and the second half is from another character’s perspective.”

Though we are weeks away from filming, the work’s already begun.

“The director (Elliott Lester) is here in town,” says Daugherty. “They’re getting more office staff next week.”

Daugherty says 478 is a low- to mid-budget film that will bring millions of dollars into Columbus, as well as an estimated 345 jobs.

“It’s a pretty sizable impact, for sure,” he says.

And Daugherty sees it as an impact that will likely grow over time.

“It certainly raises awareness for what we’re doing,” he says. “I think right now that’s really important – for us to raise awareness for the film commission, what we’re doing, what we’re about, what we’re trying to do for this city as a whole. Just like the Wrath (I Am Wrath, with John Travolta) film did at the beginning of the year, this film is doing now. It’s just great exposure for us. And it lets the public know that filming is a viable industry that can take place here, and we can create jobs. If we continue to bring films in and we all support that in the city, then we can see a lot more of these in the future.”

Repeat business is important. Daugherty says part of the mission of bringing films to Columbus is to create a sustainable industry, keeping crew employed year round.

“Crew moves to where the work is,” Daugherty explains. “The problem that we’re having now is the lack of crew in the city. The more films that come here, the more crew can join the union and the more people that can take notice.”

Daugherty is optimistic that 478 will open a door for more immediate filmmaking.

“This specific production company, they’re known to come in and do several films,” he says. “They’re not one of those companies that does a movie and leaves. They did ten films over the past few years in New Orleans, they’ve done five in Baton Rouge. If they’re able to do their job and do it well, wherever they are, if the city supports them, they’ll more than likely come back.”

Which would be beneficial to Film Columbus’s mission of creating a sustainable film industry in town.

Plus, it’s just cool to have Arnold make a movie here in town.

“Yeah it is,” says Daugherty. “It’s very cool.”

That beard makes him look so old and tired, I don't like it. But perhaps it will suit the character.

Really hope this is better than Maggie (and Collateral Damage for that mater). Arnold was great in both but the screenplay to both those films left a lot to be desired.

This has a little more kick than Maggie. Just like the actual true story Arnie is the bad guy. We have pity for him but what he is capable of doing as the grieving father even when it was an accident leaves audiences hating him towards the end. Hopefully some action is added in, from what I have read though it seems to keep a better pace than Maggie.

Thank you for that. Unnecessary as it was. I didn't go into detail or give away anymore than what recent articles have been publishing.

Production has begun.

Spoilers dude!

Anyway, thanks for keeping us updated on Arnold's various venture. Between you and Jerry Dam my Schwarzenegger and Lundgren news are pretty covered, which is awesome. I just need to find a Van Damme outlet and my top three action heroes will be covered.

SO the only question I have, will this be a limited release or will it go wide?

I will make sure to spoiler the synopsis next time as well. No problem, expect to see some set pictures in the next few days. The film has already sold all around the world and has a slightly bigger budget than Maggie. It all depends on who buys the rights in the US and UK and if they will give it a wide release or not. I could see Lionsgate acquiring it in the US and giving this film a limited release too though.
