Not much to compare it to. It's Zulawski's take on Frederic Chopin confronting his death, the fading embers of his affair with George Sand, and the 19th century costume ensemble piece, laden with the rebellious energy and surrealism you'd expect from someone who made Possession (though a bit more restrained in La Note Bleue). Very good movie.

Thank you very much for that great description, you've made it sound like a film I would really enjoy; and I think you're right, having seen a couple of clips from the film it does look completely unique, though for some reason a couple of scenes bring to mind a Mario Bava version of Amadeus, though I don't know if that is actually the case...

Just ordered this a bit ago. I've stuck with the regular editions all along.

(Still deciding if/when to get their Possession, went for the UK blu early on after its release. Probably will one of these days.)

Mine arrived today Stunning sets as far as presentation and packaging goes, and that's saying a lot from someone who owns Possession LE! Pictures don't do justice in my opinion. Thank you Mondo Vision

They're coming from LA, and I got mine in the mail yesterday in the Bay Area.

Did you not get a tracking number? They help with the s

I started watching it as soon as it landed on my doorstep, since I was home sick, but had to stop it after ~1 hour. It was far too frenetic for my half-functioning attention to follow! It looks and sounds beautiful, though. I'm looking forward to giving it another go this weekend.

Just watched my copy, earlier today. What a terrific edition of an extraordinary film. I hadn't seen this one before, and was totally blown away. I can't really understand why it's not better known or more widely discussed. The performances, the production design and the sheer density of the writing are all quite breathtaking, and the deployment of the film's more fantastical elements works beautifully. I'll be revisiting this one a lot.

As senseabove mentioned, it really does look and sound excellent - congrats to David M and everyone else who worked on this.

Special Edition arrived yesterday in Europe. What a beauty! Image and sound are excellent.

Very interesting interviews by Zulawski, Pisier and Reyre too.

Are the supplements on a second BD-50? If not, what is the bit rate of the feature film? This site claims one disc for the cheaper edition and 2 for the other but one is a CD. ??

It's all on one BD50 on both SKUs. The second disc is the soundtrack CD.
The feature is CBR 38mbps. The bonus features are about 4mbps.
