Like I said on the front page, they should totally go for the Polyamory route these three...

Saw this last night. It's a pretty funny movie and the best of the three. Not that that's saying much since I thought the first one was just ok and the second one was utter dogsh-t that rehashed the plot of the first movie and felt like a bad sitcom. This one finally has Bridget Jones as a (somewhat)more mature woman and not constantly saying stupid things or tripping all over herself. There's certainly some of that in the film, but it's not constantly bombarding you like in Edge of Reason.
Also, it helps that there are two genuinely decent guys competing for Bridget's affection in this movie and not one who's an obvious womanizer and another who's a nice guy who keeps treating her with disdain. Speaking of which, they deal with Daniel Cleaver's absence in an amusing way. If it has any drawbacks, it's that the breaking up and getting back together(or not) of Bridget and Mark is pretty tiresome after three movies. It's bordering on Ross/Rachel or Carrie/Mr. Big at this point. Also, the entire premise is silly. Basically Bridget doesn't want to get an amniocentesis done because she's afraid of the small risk it poses to the fetus. Fair enough. But the procedure can still be performed later on in the pregnancy when the baby is further along. Logically, it makes no sense to wait til after the birth to reveal who the father is. But then we'd have a very different movie. Still like I said, it is funny. Emma Thompson(who also co-wrote the screenplay) steals the show in a brief role. And if this is the last time we see these characters, it wraps up the story in a pretty satisfactory way. BTW, Renee Zellweger looked normal in this. Her face looks a little tight and it's clear she's had work done, but it isn't distracting or freaky like those pictures that surfaced last year. |

Might drag the boyfriend to see this with me. I really enjoyed the original.

The original is a great, classic rom com. I saw it when it first came out and thought it was just "good." Then the second came out and I loved it. I thought it was very funny and fun. So I decided to watch the first again and I loved it so much more than I did the first time around. I know people don't generally like The Edge of Reason but I love both movies. The original is my favorite though. I was worried this would turn out to be mediocre but those great reviews have me excited for this one. Glad to see Bridget back and that it's supposed to be a really good movie.

I loved this one, despite the lack of Hugh Grant. It's the second best in the series in for sure, much better than Edge of Reason. I was pretty satisfied with how the pretty much tied up Bridget's story. It helped that it was the ending I wanted for her, ha.

It is rare that a sequel is as good as the original. Such was the case with 2004's 'Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason'. It simply did not measure up to the original 2001 'Bridge Jones's Diary'. Even more rare is when a sequel surpasses the original. Such is the case with 2016's 'Bridget Jones's Baby'!
Somewhat surprisingly, 'Bridget Jones's Baby' is now on my list of top films of 2016! Maybe it's because I went into the theater with lowered expectations, but I didn't just like the film, I loved it! It was very easy to become invested in the characters and the story. I actually found myself caring about them and waiting with bated breath to see how it all turned out. In the middle I was treated to plenty of laughs and some tugs at the ole heartstrings. I'm a sucker for romantic comedies, and 'Bridget Jones's Baby' is not just a good one, it is a great one. The Booth Bijou gives the film 5 out of 5 stars! We would have seen it right after it was released (Sept 15) but we were on an extended road trip. It's still doing well enough in our area that it's on about a dozens screens (within 20 miles of our home) with 3-5 showings per screen daily.
