True but I would bet that the german, french or italian version will end up being the cheapest to import once they go up on Amazon (especially with the very reasonable postage rates of amazon.de).

I have had good experiences this past year using Shipito and Stackry.

For those looking at importing Zavvi now has a cracker of a deal:

http://www.zavvi.com/blu-ray/x-files.../11181491.html

Make sure you select AUD$ as the currency and it's currently $216.78 with $1.99 delivery. Use the code BIGSPENDERZ which actually works on preorders to get 10GBP off. Works out to $200.77 including delivery. $22.30 a season.

They also have a pre-order price guarantee in case it drops between now and release date. I've locked in an order at that price. Can always cancel if there's something cheaper but that's the winner for now.

FYI: no films included in the set unlike ours though if you're like me you already own the double pack so it's not big deal.

only thing with zavvi, as usual, will be their cheap packaging which might be an issue for a set like this. It's a steal though but zavvi's CS is horrible if things go wrong.

It should be a pretty sturdy box though.. i'm guessing something like the Heroes / Supernatural UK boxes.. not anything like The Sopranos thin card slipcover.

All boxsets I've had have come packed in a cardboard box, often with some paper in there for cushioning. Shouldn't be a huge risk.

Zavvi is now slightly cheaper again. Current preorder is £98.99, but the code ZVC5 works for 5% off.

I don't know what's going on. When I go to zavvi it's listed as 98.99...
Just checked again and it's still at that price for me.

French and German releases are up at Amazon, currently work out to roughly $AU185 shipped, could drop further.

My preference would be for the German version at this stage. Most german releases come with no forced subtitles whereas many french releases come with forced french subtitles.

If the French release does not come with forced French subtitles then I may go with the French release.

It is a Fox release, not some regional distributor. The French will more than likely be the same discs as issued in Germany as well as the rest of Europe and Australia too. Same selection of audio and subs. The only difference will be the language on the covers and box.

Does anyone know if we are getting the seasons by themselves or is just the box set?

I am positive that Fox are not region coding the release and therefore they will all be the same release for disc content (like The Sopranos was) in all release areas (the same date of release is a dead giveaway).

FOX used to have a bad habit of coding releases, but for the past 1-2 years I have found that they have stopped doing so for the greater majority of all their releases. Especially new feature film releases and many TV releases.

Eg. After looking at the Australian BD release of The Vikings S3 I found it as at least Region A,B (C untested).
I am positive that the disc content is clearly the same transfer/menu coding etc. as the US version (specs match).
The only minor difference I have perceived, is when I viewed the disc 1 on my US model Region A player, you see a stack of previews for US BD/DVD releases before the menu loads that you don't see on a Region B player. Obviously, the player recognises US content.

It is cheaper for FOX to make one version of the release across Region A,B. Then they have the US, Europe and Oceania covered.
And with FOX hating on BD and embracing digital (with no more Simpsons releases at this stage and only DVD for many TV releases ), you can see why they would do one release, just as HBO/Warner does across their releases (although Warner embraced the region free philosophy from the start).

Yeah, I'm at least 99.9% positive this will be the outcome as well.
