Just watched it after buying it for $10 at Best Buy.
Easily the best horror movie i've seen since The Babadook and It Follows. I was much, much more impressed with it than I was with "The VVitch" and your average Ti West meanderfest, plus Barbara Crampton has aged much better than her fellow Re-Animator co-star Jeffrey Combs (who looked shockingly old in his guest appearance on season 1 of "Gotham"). |

Had forgotten about wanting to see this. Finally got around to it. It was ok. I don't think it was as good or creative as It Follows or The Babadook (I'm only bringing those two up because "We Are Still Here" was brought up in the other respective threads). It had a nifty Creepshow feel to it, and that was nice. But I don't feel the need to own or watch this again, like I do with It Follows or The Babadook.

As for We Are Still Here I tried not to like it but there is something about it that keeps me intrigued. It to me has a great feel...totally nailed that small town in the middle of nowhere(tons of them up in upper New York State) that just feels dead in the winter. There is some loose plot points I question but It's a keeper for me. |

More than halfway through this and I'm struggling to figure out how on earth this has a 95% rating on RT. Mediocre acting, odd editing, low quality special effects, and cheap jump scares so far. Also, this movie doesn't know what decade it wants to be set in. Supposedly it's 1979, but it feels very modern day in many respects. I'll just keep watching, and waiting for it to get better.

Finished it, and yeah it's awful. It managed to get even worse in the last act. I can only assume they had some dirt on every critic who gave this a positive rating on RT, there's just no logical explanation for its score. Now I need to watch a classic horror film to wipe the bad taste if this out of my mouth.

Will do. Speaking of Fulci, I watched The Black Cat a couple days ago, and I think that might be the first movie I've seen from him, not sure. I enjoyed it for the most part, though it's a bit too silly at times.
