I know that I'm old when I come into a thread about "old" TV shows and see people talking about CSI, 24 and Deadwood .

Watching Batman now, that I like very much, and I was wondering if we have any info or rumours on any upcoming old TV shows on Bluray. (eg. up to 1990)
I had heard that CBS was doing some /restorations of TV shows on HD, but nothing has been announced yet for Bluray release..

So, any inside info?

The only thing I see in the calendar for 2016 is the UK release of Time Tunnel which is being pushed every year further (maybe it gets cancelled in the end? who knows)
Unfortunately, it seems it turned into a wishlist thread.

I do believe it's been confirmed that Freaks and Geeks on BD is on it's way, however a release date hasn't been set.

I would suspect we may eventually see more complete BD series sets of a few other classic series which distributors may feel have a shot to sell. Especially if the shows were shot on film and there's still money to be made in HD syndication. I wouldn't be surprised to see box sets of Gilligan's Island, Seinfeld, The Munsters, maybe Leave it To Beaver, and though it's not a TV series, possibly The Three Stooges shorts collection.

I own most of the shows Ive wanted on DVD.

And the less popular ones won't ever get to BD.

well, there is this news too from last year:

Quote:
While discussing with Home Media Magazine the extensive restoration work that was needed to prepare these classic shows for Blu-ray release, Ryan Adams, director of multimedia services for CBS Television Distribution, also confirmed that CBS is preparing Blu-ray releases of Gunsmoke, Rawhide, Bonanza, The Wild Wild West, Petticoat Junction, Dynasty, The Beverly Hillbillies, Taxi, and Twin Peaks (with director David Lynch involved with the restoration).
but nothing yet except Twin peaks.

I wonder what they are waiting on for Andy Griffith Season 2. Priced at $70, they should have made a killing on each copy sold.

But if the original too was released, maybe I'd buy it.
All 7 seasons of Mission: Impossible are worth watching but the first 4 seasons are the best IMO.

Since you mentioned Time Tunnel, if you haven't heard already you might also be interested to know that another Gerry Anderson show, UFO, is out on blu ray in Germany, so they at least have the HD masters ready to go. Also, as of now only season 5 of The Avengers is out on blu ray in the US, but in the UK they also have series 4 and series 6, so that's another case where we know they already have the HD masters made.

I remember The Wonder Years finally getting a DVD release not that long ago, so maybe there is chance of BD release.

This is totally a wishlist thread.
If any legit info came out, it would mean a tv series was being planned for BD, thusly receiving its own thread.

But I will play along!

Cheers please!

A channel here in Denmark has started showing Miami Vice in HD, and I think it looks great. It would look even better on a blu ray box set, which I hope gets announced soon.

oh really? it doesn't seem an upscale?
So i guess it's those hd scans that are being released on DVD currently.

is it widescreen or OAR?

There's been plenty of old shows shown in HD on UK TV usually in the afternoon, just off the top of my head I can think of: Cagney & Lacey, The Rockford Files, Kojak & Hogan's Heroes, & probably a few more. Could it be that old shows are remastered in HD with not a thought of a Blu-ray release. I think programs with the best chance of release are sci-fi & cult shows.

I'd like to see Time Trax, The Greeen Hornet, Mr. Ed, and Boy Meets World on Blu-ray.

Hey it's all good with me. I understand what you meant when starting this thread.
I see nothing wrong with a main tv thread in the NA BD forum to, hopefully, gain some traction. Of course I don't pay the bills around here!
I'd be very interested in a US release for Chronicles of Shannara(MTV) and The Man in the High Castle(Amazon). Both shows having just aired in the last few months.
But TV on BD, at least in the US, just seems like it's hit or miss in terms of what gets released.
