Default Sssssss (1973)

***SssssssURPRISE TITLE ANNOUNCE***

If you're into snakes then we have a film for you: The 1973 cult classic called SSSSSSS (don't say it, hiss it) will be slithering its way to the Blu-ray format for the first time sometime in late Spring/early Summer! Stars Heather Menzies (Piranha), Dirk Benedict (Battlestar Galactica) and Reb Brown (Yor, the Hunter from the Future).

No other details to report at thissss (sorry, we can't help ourselves) time.

Sssssss is a fun movie, but it would be better as part of a double feature, since the jury is out on whether or not it's good enough to stand on its own.

Of course, my fondness for the movie will probably lead me to buy it on day one.

Sssssss is awesome. One of my favorites from the early days of SciFi Channel programming. Hopefully it gets a nice transfer.

It was only a matter of time. Now every movie on that 4 Horror Pack has a SF BD counterpart.

Make it a triple feature with also awful Hisss (2010) and the making-of-Hisss documentary Despite the Gods (2012) (which is actually quite good) and you've got a winning set!

If released on its own, that's okay but added as a double feature, then I'll definitely be like...

MGM is cool with Shout releasing double features (of their films). I get the impression that Universal is not.

Its more of a Shout decision based on titles really..

They could have released it as a double-feature (if Universal allowed) with THE BOY WHO CRIED WEREWOLF to replicate its theatrical release, but I think SSSSSSS is strong enough as a standalone. BOY WHO CRIED WEREWOLF, well, that's another story as far as quality goes, but since it's never had a US homevideo release, I'll still be all over that one as well.

First day purchase. I just love these cheezy movies from my childhood. The Seventies rocked cheeze and all. Miss these slow burn type of flicks.

Sssssss tells such a tragic tale. If there's any such thing as a feel good horror movie, this sure ain't it! It is definitely a heart breaking story.

Never even heard of EYE OF THE CAT... It looks wonderful.

Now, we need BEN and WILLARD double-feature.

Wouldn't hurt to have a BD release of KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS and NIGHT OF THE LEPUS thrown in for good measure. If SSSSSSS has now seen a release which I thought would never happen, these four films are within the realm of the possible.

I'm glad that SSSSSSS got released on a BD50, gives the film more breathing room..
