Cloverfield is terrible but this looks pretty interesting. Goodman is very watchable.

Like how Abrams kept this a secret and its not a found footage film.

Even if this is a blood relative of Cloverfield It looks pretty great. You absolutely cannot go wrong with John Goodman or Mary Elizabeth Winstead. While it's a wish I hope to see Clover herself make an appearance in the film.

Maybe that will be a big surprise at the end.

F****** hell yeah, Cloverfield is incredible! Let's just hope JJ doesn't insert a Mary Sue.

I love JJ. Not many people making a movie for one of the manor studios can pull off a surprise like this in the internet age. We normally know about movie a year or two out and follow along in the process of it being made. Instead JJ says screw that and surprised everyone with this and it releases in under 2 months. Well done JJ you are a master of misdirection. I can't wait to see this now.

I never realised Cloverfield is so beloved, for such an average movie it is genuinely surprising.

The identity of Benedict Cumberbatch's character in STID disproves this.

My guess is we see Clovers mom come and look for her frightened infant, and she's going to be pissed.

He was kind of backed into the corner. That was an already well established character from a well established series. He wanted people to be surprised. His only options were outright say it was Khan our misdirect and try to surprise. That had more to do with Paramounts marketing than him honestly. Had they completely avoided showing anything or talking about it at all we all would have been surprised. He learned from that and surprised people with Star Wars with many things kept under wraps.

Found footage movies normally suck so it is nice that there is a actually a solid one out there. Definitely one of the best in a terrible genre. Plus I'm a sucker for a monster movie.

I agree, but JJ is far from a master of misdirection.
