Reality Bites - Should've cast someone other than Ben Stiller to play the TV guy. He may have directed the film but he wasn't even slightly right for that part

Ocean's Eleven - Quite a stock answer but Don Cheadle's cockney accent

Se7en.

[Show spoiler]The scene in which John Doe explains his rationale behind the killings as they're all driving to the scene where the climax occurs always bothers me. Would've been better for him just to be a homicidal lunatic without a reason for what he's doing. As soon as he starts explaining that he's ridding the world of people who are even worse than he is, it's cliched and unnecessary. It's the one scene that costs the movie a perfect rating.

So no, Se7en isn't RUINED by that one scene (it's still incredible overall), but that one scene brings is down a significant notch.

Amen to this. There is nothing worse than
[Show spoiler]when things are unncessarily explained. There are very few cases where it works, it is much better for things to be left open-ended, mysterious, oblique, almost every time. Stephen King is the king of doing this, unfortunately.

I really REALLY love Gangs of New York, but I'd be lying if I didn't think "God why'd it have to be Cameron Diaz" every time I watched the film.

Scorsese probably thought he was going to strike 'Sharon Stone / Casino' gold with Diaz, but it never panned out that way. I do recall post-GoNY the hype around Diaz did begin to lessen somewhat.

Tarantino's appearance in Django Unchained is unbelievably terrible and completely takes me out of an otherwise great film. It's rare that one small thing can make me dislike an entire film but that scene really does ruin that film for me. I think he's fine in Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs.

Rear Window - Not ruined, but the whole
[Show spoiler] flashbulb thing being used as a weapon was completely ridiculous.

Kevin Smith's wife Jennifer Schwalbach in Clerks II; the one part I can't stand in an otherwise perfect comedy (imo).

I don't think she's necessarily a bad actress. Just not suited for the heavy lifting the film demanded. I'm willing to bet she was cast to help fun the film. A 100+ million dollar budgeted epic about Race based gangs fighting in 1850's New York probably wasn't an easy sell. Attach Leo and Cameron and you have a studio that's much more willing to fund said film.

On the topic of distracting music, I love the 1968 war flick Dark of the Sun with the great Rod Taylor but the music is this jaunty piano-heavy score that is completely at odds with the tone of the film. There are some occasional passages for strings that aren't bad but whenever that piano music starts up it's just horrible. Still a great flick but that music is just really annoying.

Same here. My brother and I were saying recently if they had made a sequel (Island of the Dead, perhaps?) it wouldn't have been bad. As it is we just stop it before it gets to that point whenever we watch it.

Absolutely ruined the movie imo, and the decisions got dumber from there.
In Star Wars, hyperspace is not regular space. They're not going really fast, they're in another dimension (or whatever you want to call it). Shields don't go into that dimension...

Now everything about "starkiller base" as a weapon...that's some seriously lazy/bad writing.

[Show spoiler]
A beam weapon that can cross interstellar distances in an instant?

A beam weapon that crosses interstellar distances and is seen on EVERY colonized planet, even ones not in the Starkiller or Target system?

A beam weapon that requires the energy of an entire sun to charge up, and yet is meant to be fired more than once or twice? So it can not only fire across interstellar distances, but can recharge across those distances as well?

Sometimes I think some great TV and film writers who profess to be SF fans don't really get the concept of INTERSTELLAR distance...

Oh god, yes. That awful drum and bass (?) track. Completely unnecessary. The score to the first film is an underrated gem.

Drive - The weak story kinda ruined it for me.
The Game - The ending was just a bit too much.
Spectre - Should've been more tightly edited, now it was about 30 minutes too long.
The Hateful Eight - The flashback scene. Unnecessary and probably only in there so Tarantino's muse Zoë Bell gets some screentime.
The Visit - Annoying kid who thinks he can rap like Eminem.
Trance - The twist.

Beasts of the Southern Wild - the last third. The film quickly goes from an amazing first two-thirds and turns into an episode of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo after the hurricane strikes (my god, the characters got stupid really quick).
